found this by accident while touring the Peak District. Beautiful little village with the famous sheep wash bridge. Staff were very friendly. Only wanted a light bite as we were not too hungry. Wee shared a jacket potato with cheese and a cream tea!. The food was excellent and good value for money. We sat in the lovely little sun room at the back of the tearoom, very nice atmosphere. Good drinks, I reccomend the milkshake! Nice fresh scones and lovely cream. We found every one in Derbyshire to be friendly to be honest.

We have been here several times during walks in the area and have always been pleased by it. As has been said, it is basic in style, but it suits people who come in with dirty shoes and empty tummies. The food is great and better value than a pub. They care about their work and it shows. Lovely ice creams too.

We stopped at this tea shop for a quick snack after walking our dog on the Monsall trail. although only small, the tea shop is conveniently situated just off the main road towards Buxton. The service and quality of food is second to none and the prices very reasonable. Well worth a visit and a nice little village and surroundings. We will return again in the summer and recommend to our friends who go to the peak district regularly. The people who worked there are very relaxed and friendly. It made our day finding this little gem just by chance.

Called for a cup of tea and cake . Although the tea and cake was very nice , the place just lacked warmth and a cosy feeling. This place has so much to gain with just a little thought . What it needs is for the owner to stand back and look at what you've got . Walking in every day you miss so much, with out taking stock of your surroundings . This is just my opinion ,and in no way said with any malice

Stopped here for lunch, on a Saturday afternoon ,with muddy boots, we were welcomed warmly and told boots were "not a problem".
It was busy but we managed to get a table in the little conservatory at the back, it was lovely & warm.
I had a ham & mustard ciabatta & scone with jam & clotted cream. Food came swiftly. Sandwich was beautiful as were the scones (still warm!!) and the best side salad I've had in a long time, no wilted lettuce in sight, even a drizzle of balsamic dressing.
Would recommend & will be returning. The garden looks nice for spring/summer.
