We had our friends stay at the Penzion Blanka at the end of October 2013 and we were quite disappointed.
The guest house is clean, spacious. Parking is readily available. It is located in Novy Saldorf, a village known for its wine cellars and wine production. However, it was the services complementing the stay that astounded us.
The first odd practice is that the guest house offers breakfast, but only up to a certain price limit. During my travels, I have never encountered this approach: either breakfast is included or it isn't included in the price.
Secondly, as it was a large family that was accomodated, we all went to the restaurant's non-smoking section to have a light lunch. As the nine-person group was sitting down a table that had no reservation sign, the waiter unpleasantly informed the group that this table was not available and that there are tables available in the front. The front portion of the restaurant is dedicated to smokers and there was only one table for 8. When the waiter was asked why he was sending us to a smoking section, he unpleasantly and rhetorically asked if we saw anybody smoking there. The group was not at all impressed with the behaviour of the waiter and so the group got up and left.
All in all, facilities are good, but the level of service is something left to be desired.
