“A basic standard hotel”
Reviewed 14 January 2013

This hotel is quite basic, but was clean and reasonably comfortable. The food was good, if you like a simple continental breakfast. No hot breakfast here for a hungry Englishman!!
Rooms are quite basic, and the shower curtain provides the smallest area I have ever showered in! The curtain didn't quite come round the full 360 degrees, so there was a good deal of splashing on to the wash basin and nearby mirrors. No rubber scraper either to remove excess water from the floor.
If you are not fussed about luxury, you will find the Cabinn Scandinavia quite acceptable. But I'm glad I didn't have to shower more often than once!

Room Tip: Be warned about the showering area!

i stayed there for 2 nights and yes the rooms are small. But you get everything you need for a really good value. The rooms are designed like a cabin on a cruiseship (therefore the name), there is a shower, toilette in the room. In my room were 3 bunkbeds (i travelled alone) and of course the free wifi with good connection. The hotel is close to a subwaystation, so the transfer to the airport was no problem.

We stayed at the Hotel Cabinn Scandinavia for four nights, as part of a group of around 20 people attending a meeting in Copenhagen. On our first evening, we were relaxing on the beds (there wasn't room to relax anywhere else), and shortly after my husband went into the bathroom I noticed a smell of burning. Fortunately I quickly tracked this down to my husband's pillow, which - propped up - had come into contact with the reading light over the bed and caught fire! I managed to put out the smouldering patch before it burst into flames. The next morning we took the pillow to the reception desk... where the member of staff on duty commented that we weren't the first guests this had happened to, and "at least this time we hadn't set the whole room on fire"!! We can't help thinking that there's a major design fault there, together with a rather cavalier attitude to health and safety.

Apart from that incident, the plus points: the hotel was very reasonably priced by Copenhagen standards; the WiFi was free, fast and reliable; it was nice to have a kettle in the room; there was a good choice of TV channels; and the breakfast buffet was adequate. Some of our colleagues commented on the unpleasant smell in rooms that previous reviewers have noted, but we didn't experience that.

The downsides: the rooms and bathrooms are indeed very cramped. Our "Commodore" room had a bunk bed above the two single beds, positioned in such a way that it was almost impossible not to hit your head from time to time; I still have some nasty scalp bruises. The (non-adjustable) shower head produced plenty of water, but at odd angles that made it quite hard to shower properly. Even in a basic hotel like this, I'd normally expect a room safe and a hairdryer. The light switch system in the room was very complicated, with one master switch which, if turned off by accident, left one unable to turn any light on. The location is good for the Forum metro station and therefore for the airport, but not quite so convenient for the train station (around 25 minutes' walk) or town centre. Overall, if planning a future stay in Copenhagen we'd choose to pay a little more to get better facilities. And fire-resistant pillows.

Stayed here recently when attending a conference at Copenhagen Business School and had a very pleasant experience. The room had 3 single beds and not alot of extra space so probably would have been a bit cramped if Id been with family (room price is irrespective of number of occupants), but I wasn't so it was fine and I used a bed to put down my case and laptop etc. Plenty of tables in reception if you wanted to do some serious work.

Bed was comfy and clean, bathroom (wetroom) clean, towels clean and plentiful, WiFi was free and worked well. There was a kettle and tea/coffee and the reception sold snacks, sandwiches and drinks too. The FORUM metro stop is a few minutes very pleasant walk away. Staff were very pleasant and helpful.

I thoroughly recommend breakfast which was a plentiful buffet - hot drinks, cold drinks, toast, breads, butter, condiments, fruit, yoghurt, cheese, meats, pastries.

I've no hesitation at recommending this hotel - its not the most luxurious/spacious but is one of the cheapest in Copenhagen and is outstanding value for money.

The whole hotel is stinking. For this money! Just disgusting smell of socks everywhere. Show some respect and provide tourists with standards that can be considered... decent at least.
Matresses are dirty!!!
The bathroom is something special!!! Very small. The shower is not separated - it is just a whole in the bath floor!!! You could try and make a toilet in the same manner - go on!!!! The bedroom could be very simple but the bathroom must be equipped fully so that you can take a shower. I insist that in the Cabinn it is impossible. The hotel doesn't have a shower I could take.
Change the carpets and matressess and make up a normal shower!

It is not the hotel, it is a stinky hostel for hippy teenagers!

The only good thing is that the hotel is quite close to the centre.

Room Tip: Better upper floors

I have just spent 4 days at the Cabinn Scandinavia in Copenhagen. If you are used to normal 3/4 star hotels aviod. The bed rooms are very small aprox 20ft x10ft including a bath room approx 4ft sq. My room had 3 beds 1 being a bunk bed. The room to me is only suitable for 1 person. The hotel & rooms are very clean, staff & service good.
The breakfasts are not normal hotel ones but continental & not very much selection. The hotel is a budget hotel & slightly away from the centre of the city so is not noisy with traffic.
Denmark is VERY EXPENCIVE, the breakfasts in the hotel is 70 Krona equal to about £7.5.
There is no other meal service but plenty of restaurants about 30min walk away in the city centre.
There is good transport arangments from the airport to the city. Four days is just about right to see the city & SAS flights GOOD, clean planes & flights on time.

Room Tip: Do a complete check on what is available. I booked via Octupus Travel????

Stepping into the little Cupboard size room, it was an experience of a lifetime. You are immediately drawn to the essence of life, and teleported to a third-world ambience. From the IKEAs and the LEGOs one must get the clue, one must have got the sense that scandinavians perfected the art of scrimping on space at the expense of any and all comforts of life. But the tagline for CABINN says 'all you need to sleep' - perhaps that's all there's to it. If I have a choice, I'd never go back here again, but never say never!
