Best Western Nya Star Hotel
Ranked #2 of 2 Hotels in Avesta

After reading a few of the reviews on trip advisor, I had low expectations. I got surprised as the hotel is staffed, clean, and nice although a bit outdated regarding the bathrooms.
The bedwas comfortable, it was fairly quiet and clean.
I had special meal requests for breakfast and the staff really put an effort to ensure I had everything I wanted, they even made extra strong coffee.
The staff also made sure the tea and coffee table was fresh all the time and made sure all teas were available.
Friendly, nice and clean. A short walking distance to the carpark at the rear of the hotel/ shopping mall and just a minutes walk to a handful of restaurants.
It was so good so we decided to stay again in a weeks time.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room away from everything.

Nothing fancy about this place or town. Go for a business trip, eat, sleep, work and get out!
Breakfast spread is OK. Rooms can vary a lot in size, once I was in a football field, and the next in a matchbox! Decent quality, not much fancy but does the job for a couple of nights.
The good thing is that you have a few options rolling distance to go out and eat or for a drink.
Over all, it is OK to put at as the options are less!!!

I agree with previous comments about the small size of the rooms and the location within a shopping centre. There was no receptionist on the Sunday I checked in. I had to phone a number and, with the help of a local cab driver, input a six digit code to allow me access to a dark and gloomy space. Once inside and having collected my cardkey from the unmanned reception desk, I noticed that I was the only person in the hotel. It was a weird experience.

In addition, the prison-cell-like room had no air conditioning and the sun had been beating down into it all day. The view from the window was equally grim because it overlooked the massive expanse of the shopping centre to which it is attached.

I checked out immediately because I had never stayed in such a depressing hotel on a business trip in all my life. I spoke with the receptionist the following day by phone and she told me that the hotel and the shopping centre were built in the 1970s. Time for demolition I think.

A word of advice to Best Western: I have stayed at many of your hotels throughout Europe and I have been very satisfied. If you are not careful, this will be re-named by visitors as the Worst Western.

Room Tip: Avoid this hotel at all costs

Friendly and helpful staff, but boy, these have to be the smallest rooms anywhere!

The brochure says welcoming but after a long drive the hotel is hard to find, and when you do find it, it is located on top of a shopping centre and really doesn't feel welcoming. The staff are pleasant enough but there is no food in the hotel in the evening. Parking is only available in a public car park at the back of the hotel.

The rooms are adequate but mine had an annoying fan under the radiator that blew cold air around the room and was noisy. Reception told me it would switch off at 1100 as there was no control but at 1130 it was still going and the story got changed and it stayed on all night.

Basically the place was miserable and I could not recommend going out of your way to stay there.
