We stayed here in July 2013 on a Shearings tour. We found the hotel special - so full of history and character, immaculately clean, staff helpful and friendly, food excellent - the special buffet had to be seen to be believed. Our room was large and comfortable with a balcony to enjoy the view.

Our whole holiday was fantastic - one of the best we have had. Thanks to the hotel and to Shearings!

Stayed at this hotel in February half term and was pleased with my choice. Good food and comfortable accommodation. A couple of minor problems with our rooms were sorted very quickly . Only negative would be the cold pool on the first few days skiing a warm soak in the pool/Jacuzzi would of been lovely, temperature seems to be an issue reading other reviews too.
Would definitely stay here again next time I go skiing.

Just enjoyed a week ski trip staying at this hotel. We were really lucky with fabulous weather and great skiing but also had a great experience at this hotel. The staff were friendly the rooms were large and comfortable and the food was excellent and plenty of it! What more can you say?
The facilities were also very good pool sauna and steam etc. just be warned that the Austrians do not wear clothes in saunas...we were a party of 5 and all had nice big rooms and one vegetarian who was well catered for even when they asked for something not on the menu. Breakfasts were very good with lots of choice, fresh fruit salad and yogurts to bread, toast and eggs and bacon. The only hold up was the one coffee machine, they really could do with another machine. Also whilst wee were there the hotel was very hot and the rooms were very hot but then we did have unusually hot sunny weather for skiing ! Had to sleep with the window open every night to keep cool(er). Definitely recommended. Much more interesting than most ski hotels too being an old castle, lots of corridors to explore...

Room Tip: Rooms were pretty good sizes (I usually find they are a bit on the small side) and I had a double room to myself. Some are nearer the road and train line.

Currently staying at this hotel and having a fabulous skiing vacation. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Food is excellent. The only criticism is the the lounge area ...there is more smoke coming from the chain smoking guests than that of the inviting open log fire and the wifi is only obtainable around the reception / lounge area. Would definitely recommend this hotel though if you don't mind the latter. Welcome to a traditional 'Charismatic Austrian Hotel'

For some reason there are two listings for this hotel on tripadvisor so this is a copy of what I wrote for the other listing

We stayed in January 2013 for a week in the snow holiday and we were impressed with the hotel from the start, we did change rooms as we were in a large appartment to a smaller room as we sort of felt lost in the massive family room that slept 8, there was 2 of us, both rooms we used were perfectly clean and the second room although smaller still had a small sitting room, balcony and a great bathroom, maybe the hotel is in need of a little freshening up on the paint but in no way dirty or depressing

The hotel is spread over at least 4 or 5 buildings, our room was in one of the annexe buildings which meant along a corridor, down a lift, through a huge tunnel under the main road, through reception and up the stairs to breakfast, it was a tad wierd but the walk gave you an appetite

Sunday the pool was so hot it was unbelievable, to hot to swim in, but great to soak away the stresses and strains, I have cooler baths at home, during the week it did cool down but was always a great temeprature

This is predominatly a German hotel but don't let that put off any Brits as everyone is so friendly and willing to help in any way, language is not a problem, I simply do not agree with other reviews that somehow manage to say that staff were unfriendly

Despite what the brochures say this is a good 35 minute walk from the main ski area of Fieberbrunn but the ski busses stop outside and take you everywhere you want to go in the large area totally free of charge, and we certainly took advantage of the free bus, well recomended, The hotel also runs its own free ski transfer bus in the morning and afternoon which is a bonus, there is a smaller drag lift area just behind the hotel which is great fun, especially if you sledge

Onto the food, breakfast is standard Euro breakfast, as much as you can eat and for a change in Europe they do great fried breakfasts as well, with fresh fried eggs and bacon

The evening meals were simply brilliant, maybe a tad overdone on the amount of pork dishes, but that is typical Austrian fare, the Lord of the Manor Carvery and Buffet on the Sunday and the Gala Dinner on the Monday would put far higher class hotels to shame, they were great, even the vegitarian dishes were great, and we aren't vegitarians but fancied a change when we saw what they were

I always say the best recomendation is "would we go back" if I could afford it I would be back next week, a good hotel
