“Not actually a museum”
Reviewed 5 November 2011

I read this would house a small museum, but actually it does not: in glass cubes some objects are placed in relation to water. The classified “Schiffmeisterhaus” is one of the oldest houses of Deggendorf. The structure of the building dates back to the middle ages and got its current shape 18th century and was a node for the Danube shipping. From 1643-1851 the inland captains who organized the freight transport on the Danube. At that time the storage rooms of the House stored mainly salt and grain. Since 2008 it serves as information-, exhibition- and events Centre. Visitors can find information about the history of the Schiffmeisterhaus and check out the temporary exhibitions.
