“A good stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 August 2013

We had a one night stay here, we have used Go Hotels before but Tacloban seems to be bright and breezy. Conveniently located at Robinson s Mall Tacloban. Staff are friendly and helpful rooms are clean, we had a outside room looking onto the main road. Across the road there is a 24 hour shop offering food, coffee and booze, very cheap and good, not sure of the name maybe called Sisig! The Hotel has a car service to and from the airport for 160PHP per person but if you book online you can get it for 80PHP per person. Book early to get the best price, highly recommend for a good cheap stay, will stay here again..

Staff is polite, friendly, and helpful.

Go Hotels Tacloban is marketed as a cheap no-frills hotel, but it doesn't really give a good value for your money. I checked in without any reservation (and hence, no Cebu Pacific-like promo), so I paid Php1,700+ for a room that should have only cost Php700 (price estimate based on hotels with similar size and amenities). With 1.7K, I expected more frills from this hotel. The hotel is so cheap, that they don't even have a complimentary bottled water and toothbrush (they're selling the travel kit instead).

I woke up at 3am because I was so thirsty. I went downstairs to find some water, but I was quite disappointed that the store was closed. I was forced to walk outside and find a sari-sari store that sells bottled water.

The WiFi signal inside the building is strong, but the Internet access itself is almost non-existent. I can't access a simple website like Facebook. They need to upgrade to a faster Internet plan and they should also change their passwords regularly. The password is so obvious, and I suspect that their neighbors is leeching off their WiFi at the expense of paying customers.

The amenities are OK, and the place is very clean. Location is excellent, as it's right beside Robinsons. My only problem (aside from the lack of 24/7 food service) is that the room isn't worth 1.7K.

Room Tip: Buy your toothbrush, soap, shampoo, and other essentials at Robinsons Mall. Transact through their w...

It would have been a very good stay except that I starved for caffeine when i woke up past 1:00 a.m. Cant make coffee in your room because no water heater. You can order either because they dont have kitchen department, I was told. So next time i will bring my own coffeemaker.

The rooms are simple modern, clean, comfortable, good air-conditioning. Essential bathroom amenities are provided. Highly accessible as it is connected with Robinson's Mall. Friendly and efficient staff. No frills hotel with free wifi and an area outside the rooms for hanging out. They even have a tarpaulin with Tacloban quick facts printed on it which I think is a very good touch to know more about the city. Added to that, they have a massage service where you can either ask the staff to go to your room or have it within their area.
Room rates are reasonable. Value for your money. I would definitely recommend this place.

We stayed in this hotel for three days, but had a bad experienced on our FIRST day! The "receptionist" was not polite to us! I asked for their tariff rates but she gave me the WRONG one! I even thought how lousy it was for her not to understand what I asked for! Due to all the inconveniences they gave us, me and my mom talked to their manager to report how bad the experienced we had with their receptionist and some of their staff. It was then I found out they DO NOT have any tariff rates at all! the receptionist should have explained it to us earlier! Also, their landline was useless! Instead of calling us using it to ask if we will extend, they knocked out so loudly on our door! I PROMISED TO NEVER RETURN in GO TOHEL!

First what do you want to do here in Leyte. It is grottsville ,bad state of condition everywhere, except for churches and shoppingcenters, my wife visits family so I have to suffer.
I am staying now in the GO Hotel outside tacloban, it is not a hotel!!! You can sleep here with quiet aircon, TV ,have a shower, thats it No wardrobe no FRIDGE!!!! no room for suitcase, no water. The rooms are very small3mx3m. The architect must have been drunk, big wasted space in the hallway and tiny rooms.Looks like a jail. There is a fridge at reception but not for beer! worse the Robinson supermarket does
not sell cold beer!
U are not allowed to eat ro drink in the room, if they find any traces fine PHP 1000 !
Some rooms have no daylight.
As I checked in I asked for a quiet room away from the h/way. Guess what I got, yep a room
facing the noisy h/way.
If you want to cancel your stay they charge you 500 p n.B/F is in nearby restaurant for 138 p
if you buy ticket in hotel otherwise 165p.
But I found a store 2 houses to the right when u walk out of gohotel where they sell cold beer till midnight. I'd rather be staying in a Tacloban hotel ,,if you have to stay in Leyte ,than here in the
sticks 15 min jeepney ride. Not much about and in Tacloban but still better.
If you book at book .com u can cancel free 48 hours prior, it may be wise to book two blocks
one for 2 days and the other for the rest, so u can check if u really want to stay here any longer in this godversaken place.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from h/way but not in the last row (no daylight).

Like its airline counterpart Cebu Pacific, GoHotels regularly offers promos. I planned to visit Tacloban City for the Pintados-Kasadyaan Festival of Festivals and I was glad to have booked at GoHotels Tacloban a few months back for a stay period of June 26-30 at a promo rate of P588 nett per night.

LOCATION/CONVENIENCE: It is located 5 kilometers from the city proper (but near the airport). Quite far if you think about it but this place is like a district of its own. It is directly beside Robinsons Place Tacloban, a full-service mall complete with a supermarket, department store, fast food outlets, casual restaurants, automated teller machines, cinemas, a pharmacy, etc., so your basic necessities won't be a problem. Cross the street and you'll find the 24-hour "Zilog" eatery.

HOW TO GET THERE:

From the airport, you could take a jeep marked "San Jose-Tacloban". Inform the driver to drop you at "Coca Cola". Fare is P8. From there, you could walk all the way to GoHotels for a good 500 meters, or you could take the tricycle (P7), a multicab marked "Robinsons", "Marasbaras", "St.Paul/Campetic" (P8) or a pedicab (P10). Or, you could also take a taxi from the airport to take you directly to the hotel for P200.

From Downtown, you could take a jeep marked "Robinsons/Marasbaras" or "St. Paul/Campetic" for only P8. Taking the tricycle would cost you P150.

HOW TO GO TO DOWNTOWN TACLOBAN: Just cross the street and take a multicab marked "downtown" for P8 only. Hiring a tricycle would cost you P150. Hiring a taxi would cost you P200.

ROOM: Spacious. Key card entry. Good for 2 Twin beds or 1 Queen bed. No space for extra bed. Nice Windsor beds. Abundance of power outlets (I saw at least six). Flat screen cable TV. Intercom. In-room safe. Free Wifi. Chiropractic pillows allowed for high quality sleep. No noise from outside. Cool Air-Conditioning. The rain shower head was amazing. They also had a handheld shower. I wish they had a bidet for the toilet though.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:

- while the common areas/hallways are not air-conditioned, they are spacious. Also, several tables and chairs allow for lounging.

- two elevators available

- guests may avail of the hotel's baggage deposit service for P50 a night while they explore the city and nearby towns and provinces

- while the wi-fi connection was fast, it would disconnect every now and then, probably because there were too many guests using the connection (the hotel was fully-booked for the festivities)

- early check out time of 11am, quite unusual when most hotels have theirs at 12noon. Also, check-in is set at 2pm, and you would have to wait for an available room in the open-air lobby.

- single use shampoo and soap. a complete toiletries kit may be bought at the lobby for P88 + value added tax

- extra-friendly staff and crew who were always smiling.

Overall, I had a very pleasant experience at GoHotels Tacloban, plus, the rates I had were such a steal!

I will definitely stay at GoHotels on my next visit to Tacloban!

-

Room Tip: All rooms are good for 2 Twin beds or 1 Queen bed. No space for extra bed.
