Getting there was no problem--I took the Pushkin minibus from Moscovaskaya metro station. However, on arrival, I had to first stand in line for nearly 45 min. to buy the entrance ticket to the complex. On entering the grounds, I had to immediately stand in another line this time for almost 2 hours before the palace opened for individual tourists at 12 noon. It was very frustrating! If I had come later, the line would have been much longer.
Once inside the palace, I was disappointed to discover that only about 10-12 rooms were open. I was told they keep everything open only in winter (I was there in June). However, the Amber Room is just stunning, and it's worth going to Tsarskoye Selo just for it. Although the room has been completely reconstructed after the war, it remains an exquisite work of art.
