Owner description: Filled with 18th-century paintings and ornate rooms, this white and gold palace is surrounded by a 1400-acre park complete with fountains, bridges, the Agate Pavilion bathhouse and the Great Pond. The Palace also has a famous Amber Room, stolen by Nazi troops during WWII, but now recreated by Russian craftsmen.

I could live here! Love all the rooms that were decorated by color. Lots of gold! Breathtaking! Be sure to visit!

We were here as part of a tour. No question that this palace is very beautiful and spacious. However, to be a bit objective, on the outside, it seems that a lot of it appears the same design and color, rather than have different styles, colors - in other words, more imagination!
Stiill, it is beautiful and nicely restored after all the damage from WWII - photos showing it are in the basement.
We didn't spend a lot of time walking along the gardens, so can't comment on that.
The amber room is a Must See, after everything that's been written about it, and it did not disappoint, even though some of it are replicas. I don't know WHY photography was not allowed in this room only.

i was here as part of a private tour, from an Oceania cruise. This is beautiful and ornate, filled with lovely furniture and art work. The amber room is amazing. The basement has an exhibit showing the devastation after WWII, and the palace is basically a complete reconstruction. But, it's worth every minute.

The grounds alone take ones breath away. One would just love to slowly meander through these gardens and let everything slowly settle in.

Beautiful palace restored after heavy damage from WWII. I took some photos that showed how much damage it had.

The famous amber room is a complete restore - only one panel left from the original, rest has gone missing after German troops took it away.

The park is beautiful, we didn't anticipate it was such a huge place, so didn't visit much of the park portion due to time constraint. Suggest you spend a good 4 hours strolling the ground.
