Headland Gardens Holiday Apartments Sunshine Coast
Reviewed 20 September 2012 via mobile

The staff Ann and Paul are friendly and very helpful. I received quick responses to my queries and an upgrade to a 2 bed unit as there was more room. The beach is across the road and the spa and pool facilities are great. Shops, bars and restaurants are a 10 min walk. The area is quiet and beautiful. I love my holiday here and would love to come back.

I saw the discount for stays of a week or more, and booked for 10 days. Although I was travelling by myself, and would have been quite happy with a one-bedroom apartment, Ann insisted that I have a two-bedroom unit instead (at the one-bedroom price!). Although I didn't need the extra room it was a nice gesture. The rooms weren't soundproof, but i certainly didn't feel that I was ever disturbed by noisy neighbours.

Be warned though - this is not a full-service apartment complex. Once the initial tea/coffe/sugar/toilet paper are gone, you have to get your own. There is a Coles supermarket in Mooloolaba which is less than five minutes' drive away. Rubbish also has to be put out in the big bins at the back entrance to the property when you leave, but that's not exactly a hardship!

The living area was very spacious, as was the kitchen, although the lighting in the latter left a bit to be desired. Unlike an earlier reviewer, my apartment really did look just like it did on the website. I was on the first floor, overlooking the pool area, but unfortunately it was too cold right throughout my stay to take advantage of the balcony for meals or lazing around. I skipped the pool for the same reason because the heating unit had broken down the day I arrived, and wasn't fixed until the day before I left. The bed was very comfortable and the ensuite bathroom, although small, was quite adequate. I didn't bother using the other toilet and bathroom, but the washing machine and dryer are in the latter and very easy to use.

Parking is available in a secure underground garage, with a door operated by the room key (separate controls inside and outside). Although I didn't use them, there are also a games room and spa pool.

Overall I had a terrific time, and wil certainly stay there again if I return to that part of the world.

We stayed at Headland Gardens Holiday Apartments in July this year. We had such a lovely time. The apartment was clean, spacious, well equipped and lovely. The location was fabulous as it's just a couple of minutes walk to the beach and shops but still very quiet. Ann and Paul were extremely friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. It was fabulous!

The Staff were very friendly and helpful.
The grounds are nice and pool looked inviting . The Location was handy a short stroll to the beach and surfclub.
When it came to room we were expecting what you see on the Website and the room we were in was NOT seen on the Website. It was tired and the dishwasher was out of order the 3rd bedroom is actually a dining room that has open blinds into the kitchen there is a curtain for a door. The Bathroom was tidy but very dated ,most of the furnishings were old and the room definetly needs a spruce up .
It was a let down as we expected something very different as portrayed on the website . I understand that the units are individually owned and perhaps the others are of a better standard just a shame we got an older room .

The pool and grounds are great and the location was quiet as described. With 3 young kids ranging in ages, we valued this as well as the natural shade from the garden setting. We spent a load of time in the pool. The location was good - walking distance to Alex Surf club and also to Mooloolaba shops (although with young kids you would need to drive or take a stroller).

Unfortunately the 3 bedroom apartment was somewhat dark. The furnishings did not live up to the pictures on the website which showed newly decorated apartments and it could have done with an update. Some minor things - like broken towel rail and toilet roll holder just gave an air of a little unloved. The apartment was well stocked and had all we needed but it was not what we would have described as 'spacious'. It was big enough - just. Other 3 bedrooms shown on the web site have larger living areas - although the kitchen was large. There is no air conditioning but their are fans (as described). This wasn't an issue but it depends on the temperatures. We had 27-30 degree days so not overly hot. Any hotter and we may have needed air conditioning.

We had an issue with the 3rd bedroom which did not have a proper closing door, just a curtain and it also had an open 'window' between the room and the kitchen which again, was shut off with just a blind. This was a problem as once the kids go to bed we want to be able to chat or watch TV without disturbing the kids too much which we couldn't do with a bedroom that was open to the living area. We discussed with management who told us they had no other apartments for us. To their credit, they offered us compensation immediately. A light bulb which had gone out in the toilet was replaced quickly once we mentioned it - so service was good.

Room Tip: If you want a proper 3 bedroom, ensure you ask for one - a curtain doesn't not substitute for a...

Paul & Anne (the hotel managers) greeted us so warmly and could not do enough for us the whole time we were there. We booked and paid for a one bedroom apartment but was given a 2 bedroom unit – no complaints here! The extra room came in handy as a dressing room.
The grounds are well maintained and the accommodation was very clean. It was only a short 5 min walk to the Alexandra Headland shops which consisted of a few cafes, small convenience store (very overpriced) and the Alex Surf Club which served a great meal.
More shopping (and a Coles supermarket) can be found in Mooloolah which took us about 20 mins to walk to with a pram. It was very busy and the beach was packed. So if you’r4e looking for a slower pace Alexandra Headlands is the place.

Room Tip: We had a ground floor unit which was perfect as we had a pram. You can walk out off the lounge onto...
