We enjoyed our stay here. The room was large and clean, the price was reasonable and the staff were friendly. The wifi works pretty well too. On the first morning we had an issue with hot water and ended up having a cold shower, but by the second morning this was fixed. The restaurant food was excellent and offered vegetarian Uzbek dishes, which is rare to find in Uzbekistan never mind Nukus! We found the restaurant fairly priced, but they did try to increase the price of the bread each of the 4 times we had a meal!

Be sure to bring dollars with you and be aware of the unofficial change rate for not losing money. Although helpful at first sight, as a tourist you are bound to pay overprice for the room and for the Aral Sea Tour, far too expensive for the experience. Be careful too with the driver assigned, as you may be assigned a not-so-professional driver and guide.

Aydos is the concierge we all want. His english is great and he is amazingly helpful.

He helped us get out exhaust welded to fix a hole; arranged a tour of the Aral Sea; and took us out to dinner at a local place and told us stories about the Uzbek culture.

On top of that the Joli 2 is well equipped and comfortable at a very reasonable price; I preferred it over the Joli 1 which was also nice (but didn't have Aydos!). One thing to watch out for is that in my room the bathroom taps are reversed which took me a while to figure out.

OK, starting from the point that you are literally as far away as you can get from any major hotel chain, in a place mostly known as the jump off for an Aral sea trip, and well, this place gets good marks for accomplishment against the odds.
There are two Jipek Joli hotels in Nukus, we stayed in the newer one, but ate two dinners in the older. So the room rating here is for the new hotel. Staff is welcoming and helpful. The rooms are clean and relatively comfortable, with bed, couple of chairs and a reading table. A/C works, a critical point. The beds are 'quite firm' but sleepable. Breakfast was filling, with no bad after-effects.
Dinners in the older Jipek Joli were a bit of an adventure. Don't bother with the menu, just ask what's available, as many of the items listed are more aspirational than possible. But what they had was tasty, looked sanitary, and were filling. And they did keep the cold beer coming, an important point.
