I have stayed at this hotel twice and my previous stay was similarily disappointing. The outside appearance is appealing and the rooms to the entrance have a nice view on the mountains on a clear day. However I have stayed in cheaper and better hotels in Tbilisi ( admittedly the rooms were half the size)

The good:
very large rooms
spacious bed
quite
friendly and professional receptionist and bar staff
breakfast ok with fresh fruit

the bad:
the bathroom had ants which were reminiscent of pharaoh ants
the lightswitches are a) too low and b) too few
The showergels and other cosmetics looked like they had been there for at least 5 years
substandard linen
A used bar of soap was awaiting me in the shower
the mixer functioned the other way round (hot was cold and vice versa)
the fixing for the shower head was broke
the room was not cleaned up well ( I found long hairs of previous owners sticking to my feet)
no WIFI reception in my room
the price was 100 $ US /night

It's a shame. We booked into this place because it looked like the nicest hotel in Kutaisi. It is really quite bad.

The decoration is in the style of Saddam's palace circa 1990. It's one of those places with big fake gold chairs, plastic brass bedframes, 'gilt' mirrors. And, in common with those sorts of places, the sheets are too small for the bed (so my feet spent the night touching a smelly mattress) and the pillows are flacid like old cabbage. The air conditioning was all rattle and no cooling. The bathroom smelled of drains. But, on the plus side, the room had a very grand glass cabinet with a dozen wine glasses and fake gold teaspoons. What a relief.

The staff were quite nice, but the reception smells of smoke.

This is another hotel designed and run by someone who has never stayed in a hotel. Guests surely don't want fake grandeur. They want bathrooms that don't smell and nice sheets that fit the bed.

All ni all it's a decent hotel, but definitly no 5 star and not worth the money i paid (200 Lari a night).
I drove up with the car... the bell boy finished his smoke and held the door open for me to carry my suitcases up the stairs and through the door... ^^ - how many stars is that worth?
Had a dusty bed but overall clean room. Bathroom drain had issues and tap water didnt work for some hours.
BUT HEY, this is Georgia. I could have had the same issues in a different hotel. It's not so unusual.
Would i got back? Location is great. if the others downtown are booked out, i'll stay there again.

We had a nice stay at this hotel in August 2011. The city was painfully hot and our room had a very good air conditioning system which keeped us cool and comfortable. Room size was very ample. Floors were exposed wood which was a welcome change from the worn carpets we sometimes found in other hotels in Georgia. Room was nicely appointed, especially when the frilly bedspreads were removed.
There was a wedding going on in the hotel's large restaurant the night we stayed but they were happy to serve us restaurant food at the hotel's loft bar. Food was good and fresh as it generally is in Georgia.
The staff were all very friendly, especially the two nice young ladies who worked at the front desk. They made us feel very comfortable and cared for, even translated the hotel restaurant's menu for us which was printed only in Georgian.
I definitely recommend.
