“Spectacularly Romantic Hotel”
Reviewed 17 January 2010

My husband and I stayed at this hotel during our honeymoon and we could not have asked for a more perfect romantic place to stay. We stayed in Room 1 at the Inn, which had the most spectacular views of the village below. The room itself was lovely and romantic and charming and the bath was super sexy. The rest of the hotel grounds were like stepping into a fairy land with the smell of lavender and herbs and the sound of bees buzzing. The service was absolutely warm and wonderful and the restaurant was incredible. Its also a much nicer town to stay in while checking out Ephesus than Selcuk which is a big tourist trap.

We stayed at a bungalow, which was very roomy and comfortable. The rooms at the hotel are smaller, but also quite acceptable. The hotel has a perfect location, overlooking the village and is very near - by car - from Ephesus. Breakfast is taken on a veranda with a beautiful view and dinner is served at the main building. We ate once there and it was excellent. The staff is very attentive and well trained. After a day full of tourists at the ruins, it was incredible to sit at your balcony, just hearing the birds and the donkeys...

First of all, the hotel is phenomenal - hospitality, great food, great views and amazing and traditional interior - you feel at home. I would have asked owners to be more responsive to emails, as I was weary at first of their unresponsiveness, but it is not indicative of how the service is.I stayed in room 3 which has two separate beds that are a bit small (and for short people). The view is spectacular.
There is not much to say really beyond this, but there was only one reservation - the directions to the hotel are minimal, but in fact the road is not that easy if you are driving and I would add 30 minutes to 1 hour from Selcuk to Sirince depending on how good a driver you are. After the sign to Sirince it is a bit hard to find the hotel (please bear in mind, that at some point you will be following the Snail sign) and it is a mountainous unpaved road that is quite curvy and steep. If I knew what to expect, I would have been more comfortable, but it was a bit stressful suprise.

i stayed at the Nisanyan house many times over the years. If you can afford, try to stay at one of the three houses which cost about 250 dollars per night. Sirince is a great place to spend a night or two since it is also very close to Ephesus. It is a lovely small old town with good food and terrible local vines. The owners Nisanyans' are a lovely couple and they add personal touches to make your stay more enjoyable. The hotel's own restaurant is a pretty good one but if you are staying only a night you should eat outside and get a feel of the town. Breakfast is a champ which they leave the bread at your door early in the morning. The fireplaces at the houses are truly great which creates a quite romantic place. There are no tv's or any kind of modern devices. Owner Mufde Nisanyan once told me that they didn't even want to use electricity but they had to :)
I heard they added new housing units close to the original houses. If you are around izmir and have a night to spend, i would highly recommend visiting Sirince and stay at the Nisanyan houses. ( it is a 45 min. drive from İzmir )

My husband, 3 year-old daughter and I stayed in cottage 4 (pink house) for 4 nights. It was amazing. The only problem is once there you don't want to leave, and there is so much to see in the area. The cottages are down a path away from it all. We were near the kitchen and other common areas. There is a nice living room type space with cushions and low couches that is open air. Our daughter loved hanging out on the couches. She loved the chickens that were running around, the frogs in the ponds, and all the roaming cats. The staff was wonderful. Their English is very limited, but they loved our kid and were constantly stealing her away into the kitchen to play and/or feed her a snack. The breakfast was great too. We picked the place because they had a pool and we did spend a lot of time in it. It was very hot while we there, so the pool was a wondeful respite after a long day of climbing around ruins. I wouldn't hesitate to visit again.

I am not sure why I was not overwhelmed with this hotel - I agree with other reviews that the location is great, the hotel has character, the staff are good and the rooms nice - though ours was very small. The "but" is that I felt it was all a bit contrived. Almost as if the guests were part of the show. I may be being unfair but that’s how I felt. It was the most expensive hotel we stayed in and not one I would return to.
