“Lovely hotel!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 June 2013

Two of my friends and I went to Sirince for 3 days last June. We slept in Hotel Evleri, which is a very nice hotel (authentic and pleasant), located in a quiet "neighbourhood" of Sirince (that was important for us because the village tends to be noisy). The owner, Ahmet, welcomed us warmly. He is a former guide so he knows almost everything about the History of Ephese. At breakfast (delicious home-made jams are offered), we could talk with him to discover more about the region. To me Hotel Evleri is a perfect place to stay and rest before going to visit Ephese and its neighbourhood!

We were two families with four children staying a night at the old greek guest house. Having chosen Sinince instead of Selcuk to see Ephesus we were delighted by what the village had to offer. Go there if you like long easy walks, quiet shops selling knick knacks, an old church and easy hills around to climb. Go there if quietly sipping local wine on a quiet night looking at the stars is your thing. Go there if sitting on the terrace of the hotel with views of the entire village while gulping down delicious breakfast is what you are looking for, incidentally the terrace is on top of a kitchen and small office both of which were a stable when the original inhabitors lived. Go there if you want to experience how the houses were a 150 years back when the greek settlers built them. Don't go there if you are looking at the place as a hotel and expect the same amenities. The experience is more like a home stay and one could argue that its a tad expensive but we found it great value for the quality of time we had there. Ahmet, the owner was a professor of english with good knowledge of Turkish history and we enjoyed our conversations with him.

We arrived in Sirince on a slightly rainy day in the beginning of May – excellent circumstances for enjoying walks in the lush landscape surrounding the village. Sirince evleri was not exactly inexpensive - but why should it be? Comfortable and furnished in good taste, with genuinely pleasant details, really fine breakfast etc. The village&Sirince evleri is an excellent base for exploring the surrounding area by foot, or taking the minibus down a fairly good road to Selcuk (worth a visit for storkwatching and observations of homely Turkish life + on the road to Ephesus very nearby). Transports work, as always in Turkey, really well; it is easy to find one´s way about, and not expensive. The village itself is at its best inte the morning and evening when the day trippers have left, som it is far better to stay there a few nightsthan just come for the day. Ask the hotel manager about nice walks! The handicraft at sale in the hotel is well worth having a look at.

Room Tip: I had the Bridal Suite, pretty and quiet. The rooms in the other building, the house by the main str...

We stayed two nights in this small Greek house. It was rainy and chilly, so we didn't get to eat outdoors on the terrace, but breakfast was ample with delicious homemade jams and fresh-squeezed orange juice. Ahmet was a great host who suggested two restaurants to us. Because we were out all day, we didn't get a chance to visit the town. The rooms were small with only limited floor space for luggage, but the view of the town out the window was delightful. We had to leave our shoes at the bottom of the narrow stairs leading to our rooms, but there were slippers for us to use instead. The bathroom doors didn't quite close in either of the upstairs bathrooms, which were small. However the ambience was cozy.

This is great place to stay if you are looking for traditional hospitality and a charming house in a pretty village. It is off the main street - so it is away from the increasingly commercialisation of Sirince. We were there 10 years ago - there was no 'bazaar' and no bus trips - just some shops selling wine and olive oil etc. We had come to visit Mary's House so were not bothered too much by all this. It still remains a very beautiful place. We very much enjoyed sitting on the balcony and eating the delicious breakfasts and chatting with our host.

Room Tip: Stay in the top room if you can.

It was a completely different and fulfilling experience to stay in the villa. It was different from everything i have ever been to. If you're looking for 5star, flat-tv, jakuze comfort, you may have slight problem but if you want something different which you will remember for the rest of your life, the villa is for you.

We felt we were in our own private villa. This previous Greek manor house is a wonderful alternative to staying Selcuk while touring Ephesus. Set in the hillside behind the restaurant Dimitros in the village of Sirince, you are transported back in time. Breakfast is provided on the upstairs terrace overlooking the village with eggs, meats, toast and a selection of home made jams. The staff goes out of the way to handle your every need, including providing a refrigerator to cool your wine. Ahmet, the owner, is so knowledgeable of the area and was a great help in planning our sightseeing. The village has been discovered by the tour groups during the day, but in the evening reverts back to its quiet nature and offers plenty of opportunity to sample the local wines, fruits and talk with the locals. We were fortunate to attend a local wedding while we were there. It's a great village and great hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for the big house and a room upstairs. This way you look out over the village.
