We was told to park our car on the grass by the next door neighbours as soon as we pulled up because they couldn't get there 2 cars out of the drive that was shared. Nice start.
The kitchen tops were peeling in places a new boiler had been put in the kitchen and there was holes where the old one had been. Infact there was wires and holes in the walls upstairs and down as if the place was getting a refit.
There was only 2 tea plates so had to put a sandwich on a big dinner plate.
On the advert there was a fire in the living room with a nice red and grey rug but they were missing sow's to look nice on the advert I'm sure.
As another person said that had stopped there the floor needs relaying upstairs as the floor made a terrible sound.
You had to run the shower in the en-suite bedroom to get the shower to work in the family bathroom.
The pipes nocked when the toilet was used down stairs.
The mattress was hard in the second bedroom and my niece had to sleep on a duvet.
Why do people feel the need to leave old food in the kitchen cupboards for the next guest.?
There was rotten apples on the lawn at the back of the house which should have been cleaned up.
Having to wait till 4pm to get into the house and having to leave at 10am makes it so a day is lost from the holiday and having paid over £500 for the week is a bit much.
The place does sleep 6 and would be a cheap holiday for 6 people.
The good things I can say about this house is that the twin beds shoved together in the main bedroom was good.
The area is very quiet and near most places to eat out.
Apart from that I wouldn't be going there again.
I did send an email to the owner, before we left home, asking where to put the key when we left but got no reply. We left on the Thursday and put the key through the letter box which I informed the owner when we got home.
I rent my detached 3 bed bungalow and pay £605 a month in a very nice town and when I think that someone could charge over £500 a week for that house beggars belief.
If people have read my reviews before on the trip adviser they will know I tell it like I see it because that is what this site is all about.
It is such a shame a lovely house as been left in such a state.

“not what i expected”

On pulling up at the Bluebell and not even got our cases out of the car a woman from the next house came running out telling us we couldn't park in OUR drive and told us we had to park on the grass because her husband couldn't get his car out ,They never used there garage and there was 2 cars parked in there drive, her drive was shared with ours. Nice start to our holiday. But the owner of the Bluebell left us instructions not to park on the drive which I thought very odd.
The house was big and the bed we slept in was not a double but twins shoved together but with a soft mattress. I was told by our family that the mattress in the second bedroom was hard and had to put a duvet on top to sleep on.
The shower in the family bathroom wouldn't start till you run the shower in the main bedroom which was n-suite. The floor boards upstairs was terrible and woke me up most night when other people went to the loo through the night. The work tops in the kitchen were shabby and tops were peeling in places. There was no fire in the living room as was on the advert and an old carpet had been put down under the coffee table in the living room and the nice one on the advert wasn't there. There was only 2 tea plates so we had to use big dinner plates to put a sandwich on. It was very quiet all the time we were there and just a shame that the owner has let it go. It needs a full refit in the kitchen and the floor needs re laying upstairs. A new boiler had been fitted but the holes were still visible where the old one had been. For the price I paid IE £504 for 7 days I was very disappointed as we had booked this house for our Ruby wedding ann and expected it to be top notch from the write up on the advert. We couldn't get into the house till 4pm on arrival and had to leave at 10am on departure so for me that was a day taken off our holiday. We left on the Thursday and came back home. Definitely not what we expected from the advert and pictures. Why do owners find it necessary to leave old food in the cupboards from what people have left before. ? This house does sleep 5 and there is enough seating for 6 so for a big family that's wonting a cheep place to stay then this is ideal. But I would have thought even if 4 people were staying and the price they were paying then this house should be up to scratch.

“Handy Location and excellent facilities”
Reviewed 19 September 2016 for a stay in August 2016

We stayed at Bluebell cottage in August as a base for seeing parts of Lancashire we had not visited before. The house was spotless and all the amenities worked fine. The wifi was a bonus.
The kitchen as well equipped and all the house suited us very well. The owner was very helpful and communication was prompt and courteous. I would have no hesitation recommending it.

“a good place to stay for comfort and location”

Two bathrooms and three toilets were a real bonus.T.Vs in all the bedrooms must be great for families. The beds were comfortable and we both slept well. The central heating system was fine though the boiler did make a noise at times.the gas fire in the front room was useful to take the chill off but i found it hard to light. When entering bluebell close look for a small opening on the left side corner and drive through it,You can park by the side of the house but itsbest in front of it.Some of the house shows signs of wear and tear, and the upstairs floorboards creak badly but overall this is a very good place to stay, with easy access to tourist attractions. The owner,Julie,is friendly and helpful.

Hi Stuart, Many thanks for staying at Bluebell Cottage and for your review. You mentioned lack of pans, there are 4 decent pans and a frying pan in the kitchen. I will get the boiler checked

Friends visiting for a wedding and I booked them this property. They were extremely happy with the accommodation and would definitely stay there again. The owner was most helpful regarding going into the property early.
