We needed a place to stay in order to be at the Measham Car Auctions in good time. This hotel represents good value at an acceptable standard. It isn't what one would call romantic or luxurious, but it's a good place to stop-over. The receptionist was polite and efficient. Breakfast was okay. The only criticism would be to observe that the breakfast fruit (oranges, grapes, kiwi) had been left out overnight. But when I observed that the coffee was a bit stewed they immediately made a fresh pot. If people are willing to put things right they deserve to be praised.

Photos of exterior are misleading. Hotel is in desperate need of refurbishment. The first room I was given had the most stained carpet I have ever seem.I cannot believe any hotel would consider it acceptable and to be fair, I was moved to a room with a decent carpet and an apology given. The staff were friendly but hotel appears to be being left without any refurbishment.
Breakfast was poor without even a yogurt despite this being on the menu.

We had a a Sunday carvery here. Was awful!!
The chef was going on and on about how wonderful his yorkshires were, no Aunt Bessie's he said. Well - that was about right, they were like bread! If you're gonna make Yorkshire puddings then make them right! Or aunt Bessie's would be better! And don't brag about them.
It was edible (other than the Yorkshire puddings) but we soon realised why it was empty. . . Below average I'm afraid.

Room was filthy, curly hairs in bath and up tiled wall! Sink cracked and bath looked liked it was in the middle of being removed. Room cold even with heating full on. Mentioned it and was offered another room. Just as cold and the manager, who agreed cold, suggested We stay where we were and she would see if she could find an extra heater. She wasn't sure if she had one because she'd already given 3 out. None turned up so we just got on with it. I should point out it wasn't a particular cold night, but room still cold. Breakfast poor lots of things missing, such as toast and sausages. Over priced and very tired. Not maintained is one thing, but no excuse for filth.

I was in a party of 4 for Valentines day for a meal. It has to be the worst food I have ever eaten.
Menu was carrot and coriander soup. It was so over powered with coriander it was unpleasant.

Main course was sirloin steak in Hunters sauce . Sounded nice. Was the worst piece of steak ever...3 of the table ordered steak and all 3 eat less than half. It was certainly not Sirloin steak. It was either grilled or cooked raw in the sauce. Steak is to be cooked on a griddle!!

Tasteless and the sauce was the same. Positives was the veg that came separately. Cooked nicely. But the overall main was awful

Deserts one had a "tipsy trifle" which to start with was quite pleasant until a third of the way down and you hit pure raw alcholol. You could poor it out onto your spoon. Not pleasant

19.95 is a reasonable price but for a large "sirloin" steak you would expect to pay 12.00 to 14.00 alone. We would have rather had something half the size but quality

Hotel itself looks pleasant and the waitress was very polite

Its a poor show when you can say a 2 for 10.00 would feel like Michelin star food compared
