Last November 2013, while in Remedios, we ate at Hostal Casa Messi where we had a delicious meal served my a very gracious and extremely pleasant hostess-Sindy-who speaks some English and patiently strives to understand your requests. Her husband Juan Carlos or "Carlito" is a chess instructor and a soccer [football] fan- hence their cute sons name and hostal Casa Messi . The whole family is very hospitable and warm, including Sindy's abuela.
The casa is very close to the central plaza where the famous Parandas takes place every 24th of December .Most shops, museums and coffee/bars are to be found. When we were there they were building a new room for rent which opens unto a central yard with fruit trees.
One can't go wrong by renting a room here.
