“lovely stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 May 2013

All in all a very good stay. We were there for two nights and enjoyed our time there. The surroundings are beautiful, the hotel village is lovely and well maintained. The pool area was a definite highlight of the whole stay as the weather was good.

The staff were generally very helpful and went out of their way to assist us. There was one exception, one of the waiters was overly friendly to the point of being annoying. He took a shine to one of the girls in our party and would not leave her alone. We found his behaviour inappropriate, unprofessional and disrespectful. This was, however, the only downside to our holiday.

I would recommend the hotel to everyone. It is a little difficult to get to without a car, but the staff were able to arrange a transfer for us. There is a village near by which we walked to. There were a few shops in the village where we could stock up on groceries etc. I would recommend bringing some food with you when you go, as there is no shop there. There is a restaurant though, and the food was good. The menu was, however, a little limited so you may wish to prepare something to eat in the kitchen of the house some days.

We stayed there after our trip to Toscana for the weekend. The Hotel was a great find. The suites are great we stayed in the "Palms". All the facilities are well laid out, including the corner kitchen. Only small problem was when we went to the restaurant that night we were asked if we had booked as it was a full night. Nobody had warned us at check in. They found us a table but, and the food was good. The Scottish waitress who served us both at dinner and breakfast was a real find,. excellent service from her. Only issue with the bed was the mattress was a bit hard.

Our stay was actually a wedding gift that we "used" nearly a year later. Just a one-night stay with a meal included. Unfortunately we chose a chilly and rainy weekend so no outdoor activity was possibile. The reception is very welcoming and the warm greeting was followed by the lady escorting us to our quarters. The "Borgo" consists in several buildings dating back some years but well refurbished inside with all the comforts you could need. Our room was large with a lounge with real fireplace (very cosy), a double-bedded room with an extra bed for our young boy and a bathroom with a very large shower. That was great.
The resort was empty as it was low-season so we had our meal in the evening on our own. The chef William, served us a very tasty 3-course meal. Local typical cuisine that I personally think is the best in Italy - Tuscan food. I would immagine that in spring and summer this "Borgo" comes alive and the pool area with the panorama of the Tuscan hills and landscape is breath-taking.
I would definitely recommend this resort to those who appreciate relaxing amidst nature.

Nature was beautiful, people made it more nice. Me my wife Şenay and my doughter Alya stayed in this wanderful albergo diffuso. Even the owner family helped us a lot to understand this concept. We liked it so much, yes it was not a hotel but a house for us, thank you borgo guisto team, hope to see you soon at a longer stay

Room Tip: if want a real good vacation outside the city, this is a perfect place

A fantastic little 'old city' made to hotel/apartment area. Set in the mountains with a stunning view and excellent walking possibilities. Very relaxing. However we got an apartment without outside area - and I really missed having our own space outside. Also there was no service in the apartments (we had this elsewhere) and there is no air con (which we actually could have used a couple of nights). The restaurant is not used that often and the food is very average. But go for the stress less feeling you get, the get-away, the view, the pool and the surroundings. The pool is quite big and there is a lovely pool for the children. I would not have missed this beautiful place - but I should have booked earlier to get an apartment with outside area! Also the small town at the foot of the mountain has a good pizzeria and a nice little grocery store, where you can get lovely fresh baguettes in the morning. This store is just on the other side from the pizza place.

Room Tip: Choose the apartments with an outside area (unless you do not care). They have apartments in the mai...

3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 July 2012 via mobile

I visited this place for 1 week in july. Plenty of other guests. My older kids enjoyed themselves with other kids at the pool. Except for a hike nothing else to do in neighbourhood. Wifi is free but limited to pool area. Appartm as expected: dark, steps, but fine. No cleaning or clean towels in this week. Airco was broken, windows had anti mosquito nets: hence noise from young other guests in the morning. Supermarket in marla (17min drive) is good. After dawn mosquiros. Restaurant was not cheap but was okay. Breakfast too expensive. No service from the bar in the afternoon. I recommend to stay for a few nights only and bring good weather, a book and a tablet.

The pictures of this hotel on the web site look lovely however the actual experience is below average. The windows in our room faced the other buildings (thus making everything dark) and VERY musty. We had to switch rooms as we needed double beds, and the second room had the same issue with a bad moisture/ must. The matress's in the rooms were also very hard and sheets old and not one's you'd expect from a room which cost 300 Euros a night.
We would have been fine with dealing with a poor room product if the staff had a smile, warmth and character however this couldn't have been further from the truth. The front desk staff were rude, never offered a smile and generally seemed unhappy. The feeling was that any time we talked to them or asked for anything (an extra towel) they were doing us a HUGE favor by accomodating us. There was only 1 server who took care of everyone for breakfast and dinner- he was nice- however you could tell the property was very under staffed.
This was definitely the worst place we stayed at throughout our time in Italy.
Again, if there was warmth in the people, this review would be much kinder. If they fix the service the experience has the potential to be lovely...
On a positive, the pool on property was great!

Room Tip: Make sure to ask for a room with a view- otherwise you will face another building.
