“Bestever ancient theater in Greece!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 November 2013

I've visited many ancient theaters in Greece during my honeymoon for a month. The Eidavros Theater is the best of the best. It's surrounded by green trees in a mountain where is very calm and relaxing. BTW, it's a huge and well reserved ancient theater.

“Theatre for healing ... amazing”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 November 2013

Besides an amazing accoustics widely recognised Epidaurus was part of a HOSPITAL ... this theatre was used for healing pschyatric patients ... and joined to a Stadium for body healing ... then : "mens sana in corpore sano" was learned by Romans from Greek people long before ... to be there with the guide Mariana of Key Tours of Athens was a deep experience because of her knowledge and enthusiasm.

“Wonderful site but beware of SCAM from Bus Driver, etc.(from Napflio)”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 November 2013

staying at Pension Daphni in Napflio, was wonderful and the site is well worth seeing(unless you are going to Ephesus(similar theatre)........local bus to site(but beware there is a scam where the driver tell you the correct time, but tells you to pick it up at site....when in fact it is at the main road!-which necessitates you taking a local TAXI that is conveniently available!)

Site is well worth the effort...........it is a two plus hour experience to walk through and don't miss the little museum on site!

nice resturant to have a coffee/tea, etc.

Beautiful setting.

If you are interested in sound engineering ,or just theater (tragedy) you have to visit one of the best Ancient theaters of the globe!

Greek Marbles perfectly aligned forming the audience places are naturally amplifying even the lowest noise!

you have to try the needle test.
drop a needle in the center of the wooden stage
and let you friends hear it ;)

“EPIDAVROS, not only A theatre”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 October 2013

We visited the archaiological site of Epidavros, Greece in a sunny and warm Saturday of October. The area full of pines, with the smell of them in the air, welcome us in an ancient enviroment of 2.500 years history. Epidavros is famous for the well-preserved ancient theatre of nearly 15.000 seats. During summer period you can attend a play from the ancient Greek Writers. Amazing moments. The teatre is vast but the greek ancient acoustic study at itw peak of glory. BUT. Epidavros has more. a) A museum preserving colored parts of ancient buildings, medical tools etc. b) a huge area around the theatre with the strong effort of greek archaeologists to recreat parts of ruins to upstanding corners of ancient buildings, a stadium, shops, hotels that the ancient visitors used when they stayed there in order to be healed by Asklipios or his Doctor 2.500 years before today. Dont miss the whole walk in the area.!!!
