We were happy to be staying on this side of the island, which seems to be less touristy and more ‘Greek’ than some other places we saw. The hotel has a beautiful view and lovely gardens, which you can enjoy whilst eating breakfast (...average) in the very nice dining room / terrace. The front of house staff we encountered were friendly and helpful.

It is quite a way out of Sami, with not much in the immediate vicinity, so definitely best for travellers who have their own transport. We didn’t, and although we got quite used to the 45-minute walk into town (Karavolimos is closer, maybe 20 minutes walk), it was a bit inconvenient if you wanted a quick pit-stop in the middle of the day.

Our room was very spacious and had good air conditioning so was a clean, refreshing place to come back to. It was rather sparse though: no pictures at all, completely white, and no water or anything in the fridge. Since the room was so big, we couldn’t understand why the bathroom was so small and un-ergonomic: the shower was tiny and impossible to use without getting clung to by the shower curtain, and still the floor got wet.

Our overall feeling about this hotel was that it is a nice place, and if you stay you will be basically comfortable and enjoy its pleasant aspects, but it could offer more for the price. It seemed to lack a certain warmth - just an impression, but indicated by the lack of any pictures, inattention to a small maintenance request we made, very limited replacement of toiletries, etc..

The pool area looked very nice but we didn't use it. Maybe that is more the management's focus.

Tip: if you are staying in or near Sami and also don’t have transport, try Avgerinos Travel Tours for brilliant day-trips to see more of Kefalonia and Ithaca.

On the positive side I would consider the location of the hotel (appartments actually) which is ideal for visiting every major attraction and the spatious room. Housecleaning was every day, change of towels and sheets every other day.

On the downside, in order to reach the appartments you have to climb a very steep hill and, if you have an appartment on the 1st floor, a very steep staircase. This means that the hotel is not well suited for people with dissabilities or for small children.

The wifi was non-existent. The windows and door didn't lock. The shower was very small and had a broken faucet. The fridge had broken shelves and no light. The rooms weren't soundproof.

All in all I would say that this is a very overpriced property, certainly not value for money.

Room Tip: Pick an appartment on the ground floor close to the reception to avoid climbing stairs and going uphill.

Sometimes, it pays to search for a good spot to stay. This was the case for us, as we were looking forward to exploring the island of Kefalonia. We didn't plan this ahead of time and so, we were looking for a spot in the middle of the high season with two weeks to spare. We were fortunate.

The hotel combines some of the amenities in a resort (swimming pool, restaurant, beach bar), but with the proximity to the sea, a quiet but well-supplied city (Sami) and being in the crossroads of the roads leading to the rest of the attractions in that island (Mirtos beach, Fiskardo, Argostoli, Sikies etc), plus a very helpful and efficient manager and staff. Every morning, the sound of "Καλημέρα, καλημέρα, καλημέρα" (good morning, good morning, good morning) from one of the waitresses was enough to put a smile to our sleepy faces and start us up. The breakfast had good selections, was plentiful and the price was fine (10 euros per person) The room was good size and had a balcony with a nice view of both the sea and the hills, plus a movable awning to create more shade. It was well-equipped, including a small fridge. I liked the shower design, which appeared a recent upgrade. Very clean room and amazing bedsheets.

What was important from the stay was the politeness of the staff and their willingness to help and guide. They even have a supply of beach umbrellas, chairs and play items for those locations that don't offer beach amenities. Their guidance and advice about local spots of interest, restaurants, entertainment and help to arrange for day trips was what made our stay so nice. We liked the place so much that we extended our stay one extra day and the front desk staff arranged it in no time.

Thank you for a great stay!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with side view (205, 206, 207), because it does not receive the full force of the sun in the morning.

We have just stayed at the Green Bay Hotel for 2 weeks and it has been magical. The room was amazing with our own little garden and sea view. The breakfast was delicious each morning. The location is stunning. And to make our holiday perfect the staff here are incredibly friendly, helpful, and would do anything for us. Maria, Nicky and Liza - you are amazing. Thank you so much.

Nice and quiet place that provides basic accomodation.
Some of the rooms have sea view. I d preferred a much cleaner room, but I really appreciate the clean sheets and towels from the room.
Average breakfast. Nikky was very helpful.
