We stayed at Melrose cottage at the start of July, I was a little anxious as my husband was unable to come with us due to work commitments, so it was just me and my two children ages 5 and 9. Thankfully, the place is wonderful for kids and feels warm, friendly and for me as a mum on my own very safe.

The cottage itself is comfortable and peaceful with the added option of kids TV for emergency rainy days, however the best thing about Townfoot is the location. The stables were a stone’s throw away so it was lovely for the kids to see the horses being led to their fields. This prompted my daughter to agree to an ‘own your pony day’ for one of our holiday days and she had a ball. It is a 2 min drive to the pool and Secret Spa and 10 mins to the beach. The beach at Almouth was one of the best we found for the kids, the beaches in Northumberland are vast and empty ,which is just wonderful but Almouth was just that bit nearer to amenities so we could easily stroll into the town for lunch/coffee/ice cream which was just lovely.

The play area was clean and spacious and a highlight for my kids was the pool! It is super warm, clean and everyone is friendly. The whole complex has a family community feel and my children made new friends every day.

We are desperate to come back and this time visit Alnwick castle (10-15min away, less even) and a few more of the local attractions such as Chillingham castle/Berwick/Bamburgh/Lindisfarne all very near .

All in all we had a lovely relaxing week and were made to feel very welcome, thank you so much and see you soon.

We stayed in the Murrayfield last week. The accommodation is first rate, it was very homely, the art work was beautiful. Would like to come back just to have an excuse to use the log burner. The views from the garden and hot tub are lovely. It was great to have WiFi and having Sky TV was a bonus, it meant that we got to watch the season final of 'Game of Thrones'. Having access to the swimming pool and games room was great for the children. We even managed a game of tennis. Staff were very friendly and helpful and facilities were very clean and well maintained. We will be recommending thee location to ourf friends and hope to return soon.

We choose this cottage as we've got 2 dogs and a teenage daughter who can't live without Wi-Fi! It's a nice quiet location only a few minutes drive from the coast and Alnwick, plus if the weather is poor, there's always the excellent spa/gym to retreat to. The cottage was nicely appointed with lovely views across to the Cheviot hills. The terrific log burner came in handy as well!

We all had a great time at the cottage. The bedrooms were well appointed and it was great to have so many bathrooms. The views from the lounge were superb and we even managed to fire up the wood burner.
The only 2 negative comments I have to make is the lack of signage at village farm.We struggled to find reception and would have appreciated being told it was in the gym. The other is we could have done with a sun umbrella for sitting out on the decking as when the sun came out it was rather hot for the baby and fairer members of the family. It is just a small niggle and certainly did not spoil the holiday.

We had a fantastic one week holiday staying at Farriers View. It was an ideal layout downstairs for our 2 year old as open plan so we could keep an eye on her at all times and as requested, there were stair gates put on the bottom and top of the staircase (the handy man was really lovely and friendly and nothing was a problem for him). We also requested a high chair and cotbed which was supplied at no extra cost. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking for a family including a washing machine, tumble dryer and dishwasher. The cottage itself was well equipped and had a lovely private child friendly secluded garden. The hot tub was a great bonus too for once the little ones tucked up in bed at night! The facilities at the Village Farm were also fantastic... especially on rainy days for the little ones. They were a 2 minute drive by car or a 5 minute walk away from the cottage. The location of the village is great for exploring near by places such as Alnwick, Alnmouth, Warkworth and Amble etc. A few outdoor toys for children would have been a welcome addition since we had lovely weather so spent quite alot of time in the back garden. Also, some child friendly crockery and cutlery in the kitchen would be helpful but apart from that can't complain. We had a fantastic holiday here and would definitely not hesitate to return.
