“Great Italian food at a bargain price”
Reviewed 18 June 2012

Had a meal for 4 people last Saurday, one of many repeat visits. The food is very good, with a wide choice and wide range of varied blackboard specials. It is superb value at only £9.50p for two courses with only a few choices not included in the deal. The house wine is good and reasonbly priced. I strongly recommend this restaurant

“Used to be much better, disappointed!”
Reviewed 16 May 2012

We visited Da Livio on a saturday night a couple of weeks ago. We have eaten there before but not for some time. On arrival we were told there would be a 20 minute wait which we were happy with so sat in the bar with a drink while we waited. You might think this is becuase it was saturday and packed but 4 drinks later, when we eventually got seated in the restuarant, there were only 4 tables being served. These 4 tables were squashed together in 1 area with over half of the restaurant not being used. This led to an uncomfortable athmosphere to go with the bright lighting and cold air. The restaurant is in desperate need of decoration and I don't mean the childrens pictures stuck to the wall with blue tack... classy! The meatball starter was lovely but i was disappointed with the main course of stir fried chicken. tasted of grease and not much else and was served with side salad rather than rice or potatoes? odd. Apparantly the pizza is good. We won't be rushing to return.

“Don't judge a book by it's cover”
Reviewed 16 April 2012

Been thinking about trying this place for ages but been put off by the slightly run down exterior, anyway we gave it a go on the 12th April and the food was really impressive.

You are given a small pamphlet-like menu explaining the 2 and 3 course system, then the waitress brings a large, almost door sized, blackboard of specials. I started with smoked salmon & prawns which was very nice, loads of salmon, great juicy prawns and a side salad, then went on to a diavolo pizza which was equally impressive, great flavour and a good (thin) base, done just the way I like it (well done in other words). We were both too full for desert, my Wife had to leave some of her pizza and they offered to box it.

Total cost came to £32 which included a bottle of house red and a £2 supplement for my starter, excellent value I thought plus we live close enough to walk saving on taxis as well.

Why only 4 out of 5 you ask? well the atmosphere was a little thin and the decor could do with a refresh, but if the food's important to you then this place is well recomended, hope this helps.
