Meli is exactly what you see on the website photos, and better. An old traditional village house completely revamped in 2007 in great style, which offers absolute peace and quiet, away from the hustle and bustle of the island's more touristic spots.

We stayed at Rodia room (best), which was a very large bedroom with a spacious bathroom and tasteful furniture, contributing to the creation of a truly romantic atmosphere (see pics).

The house itself looks like a family country house: three bedrooms upstairs and a big open plan ground floor including fully equipped kitchen, dining table, fireplace and living room area. Ideal to rent out as a whole by three couples of friends or a large family. Amenities available in the common areas include large LCD TV, CD player with collection of music, DVD and DVD player, laptop and wireless internet connection, table games and books in English and Greek.

The village itself is tiny, we barely saw 2-3 other inhabitants during the 5 days we spent there in July. There is limited space to park your car in the small village street close to the house (or in the front yard, but it's really claustrophobic there!), but there is no shelter from the sun so some kind of sun protection might be advisable.

Although we absolutely loved our stay at Meli, where everything around you is done with great taste and looks very stylish, and we'd gladly come back, there were a couple of downsides: the village lady who was supposed to be cleaning the rooms did not appear too keen. We'd expect a higher level of cleanliness at such a place, esp. for the rate of 110 euros per night. Also, instead of everyday breakfast there was a large bowl of food expecting us at arrival, but there was great room for improvement: for example, it's hard to justify the offer of evaporated milk, dried bread and apples imported from Austria (!) in the middle of the Greek summer, as well as the absence of honey (Dragano is supposed to be a honey-producing area, and Meli itself takes its name from that product...). Surely, a daily breakfast consisting of fresh local products (freshly baked bread, fresh milk and yoghurt, honey, fresh fruit and island specialities) cannot be so hard to arrange.
