Diphlu has a beautiful setting of 12 cottages (4 river facing independent, 4 jungle facing independent and 2 double joint). The entire property especially the restaurant building is very tastefully done. You can vividly see the attention to detail in the interiors and can't refrain from admiring.

The rooms are very spacious with an extra large double bed and an excellently designed washroom with an open shower. Varieties of tea, cookies(very less sweet) and complimentary chocolates are there in the room. It makes for a perfect luxury setting in the wild. The food at the restaurant was delicious and homely.

The River Facing cottages have a completely different charm. You can relax for hours in the balcony and be one with nature. Its a paradise for bird lovers especially professional photographers. The serene river is what separates this property from the National Park. Rightly said by Mr. Ronesh, the manager, from dawn to dusk is the way to enjoy life there. Elephant bathing and dolphin sighting are some other activities arranged by the lodge.

Coming to the negatives the lodge is 20 kms away from the Central Range(which is the main range for tiger sighting and elephant safaris) Few of the staff members were not outrightly helpful and friendly. We were supposed to be taken to the central range for the elephant safari by a vehicle from the lodge which they did not provide. In stark contrast to the interiors, attention to detail in service was very much lacking. The amount of money you are splurging here you really expect more on this front.

Our Naturalist, the angry young Mr. Bumoni, was excellent in guiding us for all our activities. His love for the wilderness was very evident and we enjoyed his company and stories.

This is the perfect place to stay if you are in Kaziranga for being up close with nature.

Room Tip: Go for the River Facing Cottages 5 , 6 , 7 , 8.

This is an absolutely charming set of cottage rooms set around a garden with a lotus pond. The rooms are beautiful complete with semi-open showers. All the usual luxuries are there and then some. The food is good and service is excellent. The park is close and safaris arranged by the lodge are marvellous. There's a lot of bird watching in the Park if you're interested. We even saw a tiger in the Eastern Range. The very elusive Indian Roller was also sighted whilst sitting atop an elephant. Oh! And the lodge also arranged a Brahmaputra cruise to sight Dolphins for us and gave us lunch on a river island. 'Twas magical!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a river view!

If one looks for luxury amidst the verdant natural surroundings, this is the place. The quote 'appearances are deceptive' perfectly fits the bill for DRL. Even in his wildest imaginations, one cannot dream to be in the lap of such unbridled luxury reigned by silence and unspoiled wildlife. For the avid wildlife fans and others who want to take a break from from the humdrum of city life, DRL is the place to be. For the bird watchers, it's paradise. Located on the banks of the River Diphlu and conveniently hidden from the NH 37, it has ten luxurious cottages with all amenities (minus a television though!!). For those expecting swimming pools and other recreation stalls made of concrete, this is not the place for them!! Don't be surprised if you fail to see any signboard or advertisement promoting the place anywhere in any form. While driving along the NH 37, there are chances that you may miss the place altogether as there are no markers indicating the road leading to it, except for a small board tucked deep inside stating ''Private Property.'' They remain private to remain exclusive; they don't promote because they don't need to!!! But their clientele include the National Geographic Society, WWF and numerous overseas groups and individuals who come all the way to Kaziranga. The food too is delectably sumptuous.

Have absolutely no hesitation to recommend this place highly.

We had a wonderful stay at the lodge and easy accessibility to Kaziranga National Park. The rooms were adequately spacious with all available amenities necessary in such a location. The built of the Lodge brings closer to nature and typical villas seen in Assam. The staff were very helpful and awesome. Hope to visit again in future. Kids enjoyed a lot.

Room Tip: All roms of the villas are same and good

There could not be a better place to stay when visiting Kaziranga National Park. Built in traditional Assamese style bamboo thatched huts on stilts the interiors are extremely comfortable with the icing on the cake being the spending bathroom and shower area ( semi open).

The attention to details for keeping you happy and comfy are stupendous - hot water bottles shall be found under the blanket once you get back to the room after dinner. You go on an early morning jeep safari and you will be pleasantly surprised to find a warm blanket with a hot water bottle tucked in on your seat. This is such happiness on a cold Dec morning when the open jeep zips on the main road at 80kmph.

The staff is stupendous. All of them are adept at multi tasking and do so with such finesse and aplomb. Ranesh Roy is a veteran resort man and under his watchful eye nothing goes wrong and what a delight it was to get to know him. You can be assured of a complete attention from him when he is with you - and what a fabulous conversationalist he is!!!

The only area that could do with a bit of a sprucing up is the variety of spread for the meals with a bit more of fine dining stuff. It may be worthwhile to offer options and get the guests to pre order even a day ahead and then do a sit down served lunch and dinner.Give it a serious think Ranesh.

Bomoni and Qutub ( Master) are par excellence as a naturalist and jeep driver. Thank you both.

Thank you all at the Lodge for making our stay so memorable... and especially Ranesh, Bijoy, Tina.

And to Ashish Phukan for creating the masterpiece!!

Room Tip: Cottage Nos. 5-8 overlook the river and have the best view. You may even catch a rhino looking you up from the other side of the river while you sip your cup of tea on the balcony. Cottage 9-12 are also great especially if with a family as the 2 buildings house 2 attached cottages each.
