“Excellent Hotel Near Kaziranga”
Reviewed 13 February 2014

This was a great place to stay at, very close to the park entrance. The complimentary breakfast was excellent and the staff was very attentive. The rooms are very clean and the surroundings are very beautiful. There is a bamboo grove right next to the main entrance to the lobby. There is also a very convenient gift shop. You can also get a reasonably priced massage.

We had a wonderful time in Kaziranga and the stay is Iora was a big attraction.
It is beautiful property in the foothills and close to the Central gate of the Kaziranga NP.
The rooms are well appointed and clean with small balconies with each room.
The food was very good (well above expectation in the remote wild setting). The complimentary breakfast had a wide variety and was served after the early morning Safari.

Enjoyed the Bihu event in the evening -- good dancing and drinks around the camp fire.
The most exciting Safari was on the West side of the Park. If you have two days, try to get the Elephant Safari (early morning) (starting from the West Gate) on both days.

This resort is situated right near the National park, but away from the din and bustle of the highway approx. 100 mtrs. away on a side lane. The Rooms are beautiful and comfortable. They have two restaurants, one being ethnic assamese fare and second one being Indian. Both restaurants offer a wide variety of food which is quite tasty. The Resort has a nice swimming pool which has facilities for kids also. A well maintained fruit garden and spa are its other attractions. A wide variety of flowers , trees make this resort a sort of botanical garden. An excellent place for business and family get togethers.

Room Tip: Take the Rooms facing the Swimming Pool.

Iora is just a km away from the central range at Kaziranga (This is the most imp range and perhaps the only one with tiger sighting) The entire resort is very large having four categories of rooms in two separate buildings(Hill view and Jungle View). The Hill view has higher category rooms. We stayed in the luxury rooms which had the Jungle View. The room was spacious with a small balcony. The housekeeping staff was very amiable.

At a place like this you expect world cuisines to be good but here it was excellent. Right from the taste to the service it was impeccable. The entire property was well maintained.

We took the early morning jeep safari from here and our driver Mr. Ranjith was amazing at sighting. He could spot animals from far away. It was our first safari in Kaziranga and he made us sight a tiger crossing the road. It was not for more than 5 seconds, but what a sight. Our naturalist Mr. Somnath is an excellent photographer.

If you want to live amidst the eerie calm of the jungle this is not the place. If you want to sleep with dawn and wake up with dusk this is not the place. For everything else IORA is perfect.

The rooms were spacious, modern and clean and could fill a family of four. The restaurants was very busy as it had guests even from other resorts and rightly so because the food here is excellent. There are enough activities to keep the children busy like badminton, table tennis, volleyball and carrom boards. Cultural shows in the evenings with bonfire were also organised quite well. Very well managed even when they were full with efficient and helpful staff who also organised the jeep and elephant safaris. The buffet breakfast was very good too.

We were there for a "destination wedding". The rooms are spacious, clean and very comfortable, the facilities wonderful. The beautifully maintained grounds, charmingly landscaped and meticulously maintained, were an added attraction. But best of all was the service...efficient, prompt, but also very warm. The staff all had smiling faces, and behaved as though we were honoured guests in their homes . The behaviour of the boys and girls was representative of typical Assamese ...they were soft and eager to please.
The restaurants were great, too.
Loved the attached balconies that looked out on green spaces. Arrangements for safaris to the Park are arranged here, too.
All in all, it was a wonderful experience.
