We enjoyed our stay at hotel express because the beds are all comfy .The thing that I really liked about this hotel was that the colour of the toilet lights change.Staff was really polite and helpful and the breakfast was the most enjoyable of all.

Arrived in room which was hot. Called front desk, told A/C was not working...like so what? Asked for manager. He came to room, asked for fan, acted like I was asking for trip to moon. Two hours later was told A/C was fixed...no change and never got cool, much less cold. Never offered to move us to another room. Bed was pathetic, worst, thin mattress, two thin pillows. Rug torn, spiders in room, housekeeping didn't remove tray or food when we got back to room next day. Room sparse, basic amenities. Only reason I stayed here was to use points. Not worth it. Will never stay here again.

Room Tip: Best tip is to choose another hotel.

Dear Mr. "David P."

Thank you for your review regarding your recent visit at our hotel and for providing us with your valuable feedback. We aim to provide the best possible service and experience and it is always great to know from our guests on how we are doing. We were only here for 4 nights, Thursday till Monday, in that time we heard no nightclub noise, rooms were basic but clean and comfortable.
Easy 10 main walk which takes you to train station, 20 mins journey takes you to place de Catalunya, centre of Barcelona, see all the sights. We did this daily and came back late each evening, as trains ran till late.
Must say the lady who did the breakfast shift each morning on her own, needs a gold star, she couldn't do more for you and kept breakfast topped up. Ideal hotel if want to stay out of the hustle and bustle. Would recommend

Having read the reviews of this budget range hotel i was not surprised - that's the good thing about Trip Advisor and its contributors.
Although the hotel was booked as part of a package through BA, we contacted the hotel direct in regards to being as far from the weekend Disco' as possible. We also took the oppertunity to let them know of my IHG Rewatds Gold Elite membership.
A 15 min walk from the local station, we turned up at reception at 14:20 only to be informed that the room will not be ready for another 20 mins and would we like a complimentary drink whilst we wait -of course we accepted as it was hot and we were thirsty. So 2 large beers later and we were informed our room was ready. As I was an IHG Elite Gold member I would be given a complimentary room upgrade and it would be into a room as far away from the local disco as possible i.e. room 302.
Well if this was an upgrade i'm glad i wasn't in a lesser room! The usual basics, but then all we wanted was a comfortable nights sleep. ooh a free chocolate bar and bottle of water.
That nights sleep was something we were really looking forward after the perviously late night & early rise followed by a lot of walking around Barcelona city (approx 1 hour away after taking into consideration the walk to the station, waiting for the next available train then the 25 minute journey to Placa de Cataluna)
23:00 and into bed, allwas peaceful and sleep soon took over. However I awoke at 05:00 for a comfort break, upon return into bed i could hear discussions outside and the music. Unfortunately this took my attention, i rose and closed the window, switched on the aircon and went to the land of nod - problem solved :-)
Next morning well rested, although curious about the light switch which turned on a red light in the bathroom whilst pressed?
Breakfast (included) was the expected buffet of continental cold meats, cheeses and Fritatta (aka spanish omelette) and cereals, fruit and yoghurts, plus pastries and breads. I had got used to the Hot sausages, scrambled eggs and beans back in the UK
ELP., however i was not disappointed.
The next evenings, with lessons learnt: windows Closed and aircon on, a full nights sleep was achieved.

Recommend a 2 zone T10 travelcard which gives you 10 journeys whcih can include various modes of transport. E.g. Train fron BCN T2 to Santa Barcelona, then a train out to Molins de Rei ( ALBEIT we took a detour to Placa de Catalunya where we had a quick look around and picked up info on bus tours before heading to the hotel)
All in all this hotel proved to be everything we expected , no disappointments. Staff were friendly and helpful e.g. a few leaflet s for take-aways/deliveries of food as the hotel only did breakfast.
Saturday we found that there was an issue on the train from Barcelona city so we opted for a taxi €28.
Although there are a few local establishments for drink or food, but this was a sunday and most were not open, we were very surprised to find a bakery shop open at 21:30 on a sunday night on Barcelona Ave roughly opposite the station still selling lovely pastries croisants etc.

Dear "ColinTaylor16"

Thank you for taking the time for leaving your comments regarding your experience in our hotel during your recent stay.
We apreciate your comprenhension with time for checking in and with the waitness for your room to be ready. We would have loved have given you an upgrade for the room, but unfortunately, all our rooms are standard rooms, so no upgrades are available. The only thing we could and that we were pleased to offer you, was a room as far from the disco as possible at that moment, as requested.
I am sure that all tips you give for visiting around Barcelona will be highly apreciated for any person that want to come to our hotel.
Once again, we apreciate your time and we trust to see you back and serve you again in the future.

Very nice staff, but unfortunately we went on a Friday night. There was a nightclub next door, and the noise started about 10:30 and didn't stop until 6:00 a.m. People were screaming out loud and making a LOT of noise the entire time. I got almost no sleep, and the tiny little pillow and hard bed didn't do much to help matters either. I expected a LOT more from Holiday Inn than this.

Room Tip: If you are going on the weekend, make sure to get a room on the top floor away from the nightclub, o...

My daughter and I stayed for 4 nights, close to train station for 20 min journey to city centre at €5 return. Staff exceptionally helpful, friendly and polite. Molins de rei is a lovely town to explore full of small windy streets, cafes and places to eat. Perfect place to relax after a full day in the busy centre of Barcelona.

Breakfast had plenty of choice to get you started for a full days sightseeing. Would highly recommend

A great hotel typical of a 3 star. Friendly staff very clean. Continental breakfast in the morning very good and topped up constantly. On the outskirts of Barcelona but easy to catch a train into the centre and they run til late. Nice little village/town centre. There's a fab tapas bar The Queen Lara great for a beer and tapas after a full day sightseeing. All in all a good base for any one really wanting to visit Barcelona. Could have done with an extra pillow on the bed, that's the only thing can think of as a negative.
