Owner description: The Ashridge Estate consists of 5,000 acres of woodland, chalk downlands and meadows. You can walk for miles and see a variety of wildlife such as Fallow deer and Muntjacs as well as the more common, foxes, badgers, squirrels etc. We have a well-stocked shop at our visitor centre, as well as toilets and a non-NT cafe, which serves hot meals all day long. If you need help when you arrive you will find a helpful volunteer on the reception desk who can point you in the right direction.

“Amazing food and great value”
Reviewed 29 June 2014 via mobile

I had been here before with the DofE leaders for breakfast at least twice over as many years and always promised to bring the family.
Today we arrived at lunch to loads of cars in the estate then queued at the cafe to order. Plenty of seating and sharing a picnic table isn't a problem. The food is excellent value, jacket potatoes bigger than supermarkets sell, cakes much better than coffee shops buy in, best of all it's all freshly made and very reasonable for the location.
Service is quick, think fast food style, takes longer to queue than it did to wait for it!
I will be back if I'm ever in the area without a doubt. Open 8-6 at weekends, unsure about the weekdays.
When your stuffed there is a gentle walk possible around the woods, car parking is never a problem, drive to top and then find a space unless you fancy stretching your legs.

“A Super Free Park to Enjoy”
Reviewed 15 June 2014

In addition to acres (100's of acres?) of lovely informal parkland to walk or cycle in there are other attractions so you can spend an hour here or a day. Arrive well before 4.00pm if you want to go up the 100 foot tower for sensational views including Wembley Stadium and The Shard. There's a useful café near the Tower and the only toilets.

“Great day out”
Reviewed 6 June 2014

Wife & I went to see the bluebells,in April and were not disappointed. We had volunteer guide, donation appreciated and had lovely stroll through the woods, with an interesting commentary. The paths are suitable for mobility scooters.Afterwards visited the cafe, which has a good choice of snacks meals & pastries. The seating is outdoors and dogs are catered for, with water & dog treats, dogs to be kept on a lead.Lovely views of the countryside and Ivanhoe hills.I did not climb the 172 steps,on the Bridgewater Monument, which is situated in the grounds.Worth a visit any time of the year.
