Dropped in for lunch as just arrived in Raglan and parking space outside. Lovely staff, but run off their feet. Nice pinot gris. Average food. Good location to sit and watch the activities of the town. Not easily accessible if disabled. A little tired on the inside.

Lovely sleepy harbour town. Just wanted to have lunch here. A few eateries, but we decided to try this one! I will say the service staff were nice and friendly and the drinks were fine. Sadly I cannot type much about the rest. Might have been a bad day.

Room Tip: Take your time look around first! We were so hungry we did not!

Think bar food. But the menu is pricey for that level of fare. Main courses were disappointing (too much onion smothered the fish); tasteless lamb shank. The chocolate dessert was though a triumph.

Service was pleasant and cheerful - but inexpert: we were twice served the wrong wine.

Don't think we'd go back. According to the huge notice on the outside of the hotel, the business is for sale - let's see what the new owners do with it.

I booked into this "hotel" last minute during my trip through Raglan.
Unfortunately, it was pretty awful from start to finish.
The smell that greets you in the "lobby" which is also the front bar is very musty and stale. This smell follows upstairs to the bedrooms.
The room was so small and bare, I honestly felt like it was the closest to a cell I'd encounter.
The bathroom was down the hall and the bedroom door didn't lock too easily which was a hassle.
The room was over the front of the bar so it was really loud at nighttime.
There was nobody else staying in the hotel and no security personnel. This meant a fitful nights sleep for me.
There was no wi-fi available at all so I had to go across the road to the library.
For the price of the hotel, I would have expected a lot more!!

Nice old pub ...cool balcony on main road of Raglan -good place to have a beer and watch Raglan go by. Good range of beers but not cheap for any of them. Food is pricey too...some of it was quite good ( seafood chowder ) ...but the fish and chips had tiny amount of fish and was about $24. Say what bro ?

No idea what it is like to stay at the Harbour View Hotel, although the location couldn't be better.
But if you want to eat in Raglan and aren't looking for somewhere suave (and expensive), I'd recommend it. We eat there a couple of times when visiting grandkids at Christmas 2011/2012 and didn't hesitate to return a couple of times in February 2013.
Certainly better than standard pub grub and whopping portions. The grandkids love it!
