Room was dusty, stains on curtain and bedspread. Shower mouldy. One hand towel to share for 10 rooms. Plastic plants gathering dust everywhere. No info given on who to call if we needed anything. Cleaner crass and inappropriate. Shambles.

Had dinner at the Harbour View and came away with a bad experience but a substantial bill. Beautiful decor, lovely building and food that seemed to be created by a team vying for the worst in NZ.

My pizza looked like one of those $4.99 ones you get in the frozen food section of your local supermarket. My wife's chicken salad was a tasteless heap of some sort of greens and a few stray bits of equally tasteless chicken. Both were close to being inedible.

Remarkable how great this place could be if they just tried, even a bit...

Really lovely looking place harking back to the colonial days however the food in the restaurant, whilst promisingly pricey, was really disappointing. I ordered the expensive steak on the menu and what i got was tasteless and badly cooked. I complained to the waitress and she instantly said she'd discount the food which suggested to me they have a policy for their complaints - a meager 10%... really disappointed as I was expecting something that promised to be above average.

Room Tip: Only ate there and didn't stay

Dropped in for lunch as just arrived in Raglan and parking space outside. Lovely staff, but run off their feet. Nice pinot gris. Average food. Good location to sit and watch the activities of the town. Not easily accessible if disabled. A little tired on the inside.

Lovely sleepy harbour town. Just wanted to have lunch here. A few eateries, but we decided to try this one! I will say the service staff were nice and friendly and the drinks were fine. Sadly I cannot type much about the rest. Might have been a bad day.

Room Tip: Take your time look around first! We were so hungry we did not!

Think bar food. But the menu is pricey for that level of fare. Main courses were disappointing (too much onion smothered the fish); tasteless lamb shank. The chocolate dessert was though a triumph.

Service was pleasant and cheerful - but inexpert: we were twice served the wrong wine.

Don't think we'd go back. According to the huge notice on the outside of the hotel, the business is for sale - let's see what the new owners do with it.

I booked into this "hotel" last minute during my trip through Raglan.
Unfortunately, it was pretty awful from start to finish.
The smell that greets you in the "lobby" which is also the front bar is very musty and stale. This smell follows upstairs to the bedrooms.
The room was so small and bare, I honestly felt like it was the closest to a cell I'd encounter.
The bathroom was down the hall and the bedroom door didn't lock too easily which was a hassle.
The room was over the front of the bar so it was really loud at nighttime.
There was nobody else staying in the hotel and no security personnel. This meant a fitful nights sleep for me.
There was no wi-fi available at all so I had to go across the road to the library.
For the price of the hotel, I would have expected a lot more!!
