“Happy Holiday”
Reviewed 26 September 2013

My parents, my husband and I booked two rooms at the Wheatsheaf for a mini break as we wanted to visit Glastonbury/street and then Bath the following day. On arrival we were made welcome and were showed to our room and were offered help with our baggage. We were then shown around the room and were told if we needed anything that it was no problem. The rooms were very very good and I sat on the bed and sunk into it OMG, the bed was heaven. Mini-fridge, gowns, shampoo, soap, water, tissues, milk, biscuits, snacks, wine/campaign with glasses, along with a cork screw was provided along with a selection of intelligent magazines and tissues. After we settled we all went for a walk in the beautiful surrounding countryside where you can find some amazing local history. We had the option of a clean route or a muddy one, we choose the latter as we are seasoned to it. We decided to eat in the Wheatsheaf in the evening which I was looking forward to as I have read many reviews and found that the Wheatsheaf has been Michelin recommended. I have eaten in many excellent eatery's and the meal did not disappoint. Venison was amazing and the desert out of this world. Overall I would rate the Wheatsheaf 4.7 stars, with very minor and easy refinements they could easily achieve 5 star. The stay was just as we wanted, not the informality of a hotel and not the extreme friendliness off a B&B. The Wheatsheaf is perfectly in between, and in a stunningly relaxing location.

We decided to go for a Saturday lunch on a lovely sunny afternoon
The location of the pub is idyllic sit outside if you can as you feel like you are in another world!
The food is very good and I highly recommend the Bass with black pudding on a bed of spinach, delightful
Service was prefesional and friendly.
We shall return soon

We love this place - excellent food and drinks and dogs welcome whatever the weather. Lazy lunçh in the beautiful front gardens is hard to beat with plenty of options for adults and children. Highly recommended.

We live overseas in the Middle East but regularly visit Bath throughout the year. We aways try and fit in a dinner or two here when we can. It's almost worth just flying 3000 miles for the food and service alone. Met my son and daughter here for dinner this week and it was, as usual, superb. Staff always attentive and pleasant. Food consistently good. Quality.

Room Tip: Book ahead for Sunday lunch - always crowded. Magnificent though..

I stayed here for two nights this week and found it to be absolutely fantastic.

Great food, great accommodation and the owners make a lovely Hendricks and tonic! One slight niggle is they breakfast is not served until 9am so didn't manage to get to try that but knowing I was leaving earlier in the mornings the owners did give me some cereal and milk in the from so I had some breakfast, so can't ask for more really.

The food in general was superb and they served the best steak I have had in ages.

Is summary a wonderful pub in a wonderful location.

We have eaten here twice in the last week and all I can say that we really enjoyed it. The lunch set menu was very well cooked and every one had a smile on their face.....wine list was varied and well thought out ......small tip to anyone that goes, make sure that the sun is shinning and eat outside on the terrace you could be in Italy ....really enjoyed it and we shall be back next time that we visit Mother I Law.....Thanks very much to everyone at The Wheatsheaf

Room Tip: Only ate there so unable to comment

Stayed here for 2 nights on a romantic weekend away and it was absolutely perfect. Very attentive hosts, beautiful room and delicious food and all at an incredibly reasonable price. We would go back in a heartbeat! If you are looking or a picturesque retreat with great attention to detail, book a weekend at the Wheatsheaf!

Room Tip: We stayed in the barn room, located over the road from the pub so it was very private and peaceful.
