We just took a writing group to the Westwind Inn for a 5 day writing retreat in late October 2013. I can't say enough marvelous things about this place!

They worked with us to understand all our needs and requirements and then did their best to fulfill them and completely succeeded!

The location was great, the workshop space was very effective, the rooms were comfortable and conducive to quiet writing time, and the extra curricular activities in the area were varied and interesting. But it was the food, above everything else, that absolutely knocked our socks off. Meal after meal after meal the chef stunned us with his creativity and his presentation. The food was beautiful and delicious. Like eating in a 5 star restaurant.

I can't recommend this place highly enough. Bravo!

Room Tip: The lakeside rooms on the main floor are a treat (jacuzzi tubs), and the luxury rooms in the Chalet...

We had a great time at the inn this summer.  It's always just what we need to unwind.  The surroundings and setting are like no other place we've visited.  My husband hates going to the same place twice but after checking out the competition we always end up back at Westwind.  We love the grounds, the views, the lakefront, the nature trails, the dining room view, our cozy room and fireplace.  Oh and how could I forget the pool, what a great pool.  The staff are always so helpful and friendly, the owners go above and beyond, food is great and we can't wait return.  Fall is our favorite time, we always meet great people around the campfire.  See you soon and thank you for staying open while so many other resorts are disappearing.  I'm sure it's a tough business.

The Westwind Inn is a charming small lodge on Buckhorn lake which feels a lot like your cottage in the seventies. All wooden interior, very rustic, beautiful shoreline, and bonus, no smoking anywhere on the property. Some might say it needs a little updating in places, but even without that, it is a cozy place to stay for a few days. Food was good but we did not eat all our meals there.
We would go back for sure

Why pay a ton of money to rent a mediocre cottage in the kawarthas? Westwind Inn was a breathe of fresh air and a much needed break from the big city. The views are just gorgeous and the food was delicious. We loved the cottagey feel of the place and felt right at home. Can't wait to visit again soon.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Westwind Inn for two days and two nights. We absolutely fell in love with it! Upon arrival, we could automatically feel the relaxation start to sink in as we approached the wooden lodge with the lake view in the distance. The rooms were cute and cozy with a cottage atmosphere. The air conditioning in our room was not working so the staff automatically upgraded our room to one with a jacuzzi and a working air conditioner. The balcony overlooking the lake was a perfect place to have tea in the morning and listen to the water lapping on the rocks before starting our day.
The amenities on site were wonderful. We had free use of the boats and canoes at any time. The pool was clean and perfect for a refreshing dip after a hike. The hiking trail was gorgeous and led us to an unexpected marsh where we were surrounded with nothing but nature. The grounds had a small driving range, mini putt, campfire pits, badminton nets and hammocks. We were so active during our stay (most of the time right on-site) that we didn't even have time to find and spend the day lying on the beach!
We didn't have dinner at the Inn, however the breakfasts were delicious. A perfect country breakfast with cute wooden tables overlooking the vast lake was exactly what we needed after a good nights rest.
In conclusion, we would most definitely return to the Westwind Inn. Even for a young 20-something couple, we enjoyed ourselves immensely. The location is indescribable, the staff friendly and accommodating, the food delectable and the amenities always entertaining.
This trip was perfect in every which way and we will definitely recommend the Westwind!
So sad to leave! Such a romantic destination."

A warm and welcoming retreat before you with visiting the Westwind Inn on the Lake twice now seasonally (Winter and Summer) for business purpose.
The Inn presented the escape from the city and busy life to a quiet, back to nature adult atmosphere.
Both seasons offered just the right amount of activities with walking trails, boat tour, dining, friendly and obliging staff, nearby art gallery & winery, hot tub/indoor and outdoor swimming pools, fire-pits and a large patio overlooking the lake.
I look forward to returning with my ever-so-busy spouse....

We went to the Westwind Inn this April with friends. The Inn is located in a beautiful natural setting, be sure to make time to just sit and enjoy the lake. Our visit began with an absolutely fantastic meal: great food, great wine and knowledgeable staff. We were pleased that the Westwind is pet friendly, our Golden Retriever certainly enjoyed his visit! We slept very comfortably both nights and left feeling recharged and rested.
