This is a lovely hotel, right on the beach and away from the main road unlike many of the other hotels. Our room was on the second floor and had excellent views across Kefalos Bay and of Kastri Island. The room/communal areas/swimming pool and gardens were well maintained and cleaned daily.
We had a problem with our air conditioning at the end of the stay and the owners (John & Chrissie) kindly let us stay in the room next door for one night which was much appreciated as it was so hot.
My husband wanted to visit Kos for the windsurfing and the hire centre is only a five minute walk along the beach. While we were there we also hired a quad bike for one day from ‘Manolis’ which is at the top of the road and explored the west coast of the Island.

Just returned from Kefalos and loved everything about it. The Hotel Ionikos is in a great location right on the beach and away from the road. For us, this was a real plus, as traffic noise in other hotels can be problem.
The Hotel is spotless and although fairly basic, was really great value for money, especially considering its location. Breakfast is basic and the bar shuts early, but there are plenty of other options nearby. The Sacallis Inn was our favourite restaurant and was good value for money, just 3 minutes walk away.
It could be said that Kefalos is a little rough around the edges and a bit rustic, but thats what sets it apart from the busier resorts. If you are looking for peace and quiet, look no further!

Room Tip: Avoid the rooms facing Club Med, your outlook is trees which rustle in the breeze

As said by the previous reviewer, Chrisi works very hard to keep the guests happy and feeling cared for, and she succeeds. We came away from our two-week break there feeling that we had made a new friend. More generally, the family take their hotel seriously - they do their best to get everything just right.

Location: Overlooking the beach - perfect - but quite a walk from the town itself. The front itself is really just a thin lining of bars, restaurants and tourist shops, quite a trudge in the heat, but affording very pleasant eating and drinking opportunities overlooking the beach. The original town is set back and up a considerable climb - but well worth visiting. The hotel location is rather on the edge of the world, so unless you like to take longish walks to find things to do you might like to hire a scooter, or a buggy, or a Suzuki jeep. They are buzzing around everywhere, although unobtrusively!

Hotel: Very well maintained and organised and spotlessly clean throughout. The gardens are all meticulously managed and the pool area is very welcoming. The kitchen is capable of extremely good cooking, which we experienced on a number of occasions, although we had chosen the B&B option when booking. It might work out better to take the half-board option, and you can still go to the many excellent food places (The Zefyros, just down the road, was our favourite) for evenings out.

All in all, a very nice holiday - and we are planning to return next year.

Just a couple of advisory notes: The breakfast, as they are currently, are very unimaginative and repetitive. We would be glad to see a buffet breakfast or similar. Instant Nescafe in Greece also came as a bit of a let-down. Filter coffee, at least, would be expected. Secondly, don't prebook transport to and from the airport. The taxi fare is a standard 25 Euros each way, while we were invited to pay 50, online, and even in Kefalos we were quoted 30 Euros EACH for a shuttle bus!! Wait till you get there and use a taxi.

Buses run back and forth to Kos Town regularly - at 4 Euros each way.

This hotel is at the quiet end of a quiet resort but is situated right on the beach.

It is family owned and run and Chrissy does her best to keep everybody happy.

We were on B&B terms but people who had a half board option were very happy with the standard of meals and restaurant service.

Rooms were spotlessly clean and serviced daily. The pool and pool area was also kept clean and tidy.

I would certainly recommend the Ionikos for anybody wanting a relaxing time in a pleasant atmosphere in a great beachside location.

The resort centre is a 10/15 minute walk either down the beach or down the main road.
