“What a great summer vacation resort”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 August 2011

We stayed at the hotel for one week and we wish we could stay longer.
The hotel is very clean and the decoration is amazing. It's above any 5 stars all inclusive hotel standards.
We were two adults with two kids, and had two rooms. Each room was very big with 32" LCD TV.
Every day the cleaning lady made us a different animal out of towels.
The food was tasty and the amount of food is unvelievable.
The drinks and desserts are nice and tasty.
I wish there were more types of beer for free, even though the domestic beer is light and refreshing and is suitable for hot wether.
The pools are large and the kids loved it.
The adventure land has nice water slides for small kids and some slides for older kids. There is height limitation which is not proportional to the height of the slides. The height limitation could have been smaller since the water slides are not that high.
The breeze around the hotel is amazing and that's why you don't feel the hot wether.
The beach is clean. The entrance to the sea is a bit rocky but it has special sand bags to enter the sea and avoid the rocks.
The fitness area seems nice although we didn't use it (we are saving something for next year).
We for sure are coming back next summer.

Room Tip: Room number 7101-7111 doesn't have sea view but has view to the shows at night (sometimes a bit...

On first sight as you go down the cliff you see how new and large the village is, it is the size of an actual village! the meet and greet team are very nice, mostly tall blonde and attractive eastern bloch girls. We were upgraded on arrival as the staff thought our room was unsuitable for our party, 2 very nice swim up rooms were provided at no extra charge,a big well done for our thomson rep. The village is set on 4 levels, which can be awkward for disabled people to get around(only 2 lifts in the village), but they operate a very good club car service dial 99 and they take you anywhere you want free of charge. We were on the top level and we had the third largest pool with a swim up bar as well as the shared private plunge pool, the gym and spa was a short walk away as was the 4th largest pool , the adult pool, kids had to be acompanied by adults ,this pool though was cut off from the bar and was an annoying walk for the people in the rooms there to get a drink, it really should have a walkway joining the 2 pools, needless to say the adult pool was empty most days, also ther's a chinese restaurant bookable at reception. Down 1 level and there,s a wellness spa, very plush but pricey, and the main cocktail bar and aegean restaurant which comprises of 3 separate eateries, 1 greek, 1 italian and 1 med all offered some nice food and you can walk round and take starter , main course and sweet from any of the 3, here's the first big moan, you can only have wine by the glass in the village they won't leave you the bottle, so when the waiters get busy as they very often do, you can go without any drinks for quite a while, this caused a fair bit of friction at all the restaurants and created more work for the already overworked staff , many of whom said they were going home as the had had enough of the slave labour. On the next level was the entertainment arena , in general the entertainment was the best we've had and the service was good by the bar staff. Down the hill was the adventure grill, a self cook bbq area at night ( bookable at reception) and chef served at lunchtime till 2.30 they did nice gyro's. Next was the plaza area which has a shop a wine shop , a nice bar ( night only) and the italian restaurent, nice for lunch good fresh pizza pasta salads etc but the manager was a ba*****d he caused arguments over the slightest things,we had a massive row because we pushed 2 tables together so we could sit together and he went crazy! The restaurant does a set meal at night, again bookable at reception..On the next level was the 2nd largest pool , the grill restaurant and the ice cream parlour, a must for the sweet toothed, they do crepes waffles, buns and ice cream, this was most popular with the germans. There is a large bar but it had no sun cover so was little used, On the last level is the beach bar which does toasted sandwiches and hot dogs and the largest pool, it is over 130 yards long and around 40 odd yards wide but here's another moan, only 30 sunbeds, we know it is supposed to be used by the people on the beach but there is only a few beds near on, the rest are well down the beach and only a third of beds on the beach were used as they were too far away from the bar, another bar should be opened on the beach it is after all supposed to be 5 star hotel. Down the beach there's a water sports place for boat trips jet ski , banana boat etc but is very pricey, then there's adventure land, it has a huge climbing area ,football ,tennis and basketball courts all are payable. Then there's the pool area, free to guests and great for the kids, a lazy river, galleon and mushroom pools and at the end the larger slides which had height restrictions, all pools in the village have lifeguards. Here's another small moan, there isn't any refreshment area at the adventure land only water in a fridge and it is a fair way away from anywhere.
To sum up, the village is a nice place but is spread over a far too big an area, the staff are very friendly but massively overworked, the rooms are plush but a little small for the 5 stars, (there are bigger and better exec rooms but i didn't have the chance to view them so i can't review them) the club car idea is good, the eateries are good but too big and far apart, the pools are very good and the beach is ok. the hotel tries very hard to please and probably next year will have rid itself of the few teething problems, but it needs to look at a few things and change them in order to be a great hotel. Would i go back? maybe, but it is a very secluded location and a week here is probably enough. also the sheer size of the place makes it a bit impersonal so its hard to make friends and fall in love with the place like so many greek places we've been to.

Went with my wife, son, daughter-in-law and 2 children for 7 days from 10th August. Huge site, 3 large pools, one of which, the Activity pool we avoided due to constant music, bingo, etc all day long. When the hotel is full, as during our visit, there is a shortage of sun loungers by the pools. Spotlessly clean everywhere, wide range of food options, good beach with watersports and great water park for teens/children.
Restaurant and bar staff delightful and efficient. Childrens entertainment was fine (run by Thomson, great as long as you are english). For adults I would say amateurish and fairly poor compared with similar all-inclusives in Turkey for example. The environment is upmarket, high quality and relaxed.

My family loved this hotel & we all had a great holiday. Nothing to add to the other reviews, except that this meant I could duck out for guilt-free windsurfing.
The watersports team work hard all day getting guests on & off the water in any combination of ringos, banana boats & jetskis. This means poor manager Paul doesn't get time to go out on the fine (if well used) collection of JP/Naish boards & sails he has so carefully rigged. His loss, my gain, it was very windy at times, perfect 5m blasting across light chop in the x-off wind, then back with the swell. If you're feeling sociable or just want to scare the wife/kids you can take the Hobie 15, don't forget your gloves if your hands are delicate like mine...
I was just about their only customer for windsurfing. There's just enough kit for 2 or 3 enthusiastic sailors but Paul reckons he could easily get more in at short notice if the demand picked up.
Keep up the good work!

So we arrived back from blv on Wednesday night and thought would just drop a review for everyone yet to go...
All I can say is it's fantastic, the Thomson team are truly inspirational and work so hard to ensure everyone has a great time there, especially boogie baz, smilie kylie and Jessie Jay... They deserve a medal for the hours and effort they put in..
The hotel is very clean, food in the Aegean restaurant is lovely but there are 3 stations so as others have said walk around them all before deciding on your choice to avoid it getting cold. The Chinese was the best a la carte and we went there 3 times in the two weeks, the adventure BBQ was good fun too but try and go for about 8 so you get the sunset aswell, the Italian was poor in the evening although was lovely for lunch, not sure why that is. Main restaurant not open for lunch which limited lunch to the BBQ , Italian or beach snack bar , all plentiful but you did sometimes have to wait for a table at peak times.
The rooms were good, we only had a standard twin but was big enough for us, when we arrived we were given a room which shared a balcony so having a child with us I wasn't happy for this (apparently the hotel had overbooked I think they were trying to split family rooms to accommodate everyone), so after 3 calls to reception we were moved and it was all sorted out. Generally the staff there couldn't do enough for you , they work so hard to keep the place spotless including the pool areas etc, we only experienced one morning of towels being removed from the beds when we had gone for breakfast which caused a lot of unhappy people, you will always get people who think they can reserve beds then go off for the morning ...it's not fair on others .. My only criticisms would be they need to make better use of some parts of the hotel, the VIP lounge was a lovely big room/bar and outdoor space but we only ever saw 3 people in there that could be used as a teenage / kids indoor games room. The activity pool needs to have more room for sunbeds, there were 4 other pools that were bigger in size and space but very quiet in comparison, as I presume the majority of people with kids like to mix and join in with the pool games/entertainment, we did. Also this was the pool nearest to the lunchtime restaurants so was popular for these plus the waffle/pancake house were here too.
The evening entertainment organised by thomsons is good and they try their best to get everyone involved, by the end of your holiday you will be singing and dancing to superheroes and Barbara Streisand!! The evening shows by the hotel were very poor, sadly the Greek show was the worst and quite embarrassing that the theatre emptied during this and other hotel run shows, this needs to be addressed and quickly to maintain positive reviews , the cocktail bar was good fun and the bar staff here loved to show off their skills to amuse the kids especially...but again this sometimes lacked atmosphere , fine if you are happy to amuse yourselves though. Hotel location is very isolated but there is enough going with pools, adventureland etc not to need to wander far anyway, we did go to Kos town and on a pirate cruise through thomsons and both were good trips.
Overall a fantastic time and would go back again , for anyone yet to go enjoy yourselves it's a lovely place xx

Room Tip: Some rooms in block 7000 have a lot of steps to get to if you have any difficulties walking avid thi...

First impressions when we arrived at the resort were very impressive, check in was quick, resort was immaculately clean and our room and balcony were massive we felt very happy and was very excited about getting on with our 2 week stay.

Pools : We spent 1 day around the activity pool and that was enough it was really cramped and very much like butlins not very 5* and we felt really disappointed by the whole set up there. We ended up spending thr majority of our holiday at the leisure pool which was much more relaxed and had enough room so our 10 year old could dive in and out the pool without splashing everyone pool side. There was not alot of beds around the leisure pool which was a shame because alot of people seemed to feel the same way as us and prefer to be in a quieter atmosphere.

Restaurants: The main restaurant for the whole 2 weeks served the same food everyday which got really boring. The food was also of very poor quality and always luke warm not what you would expect the staff working in the main restaurant we found lovely they were always helpful and topped up drinks constantly which was good. You could book 3 other restaurants in advance we spoke to alot of people who didnt like chinesse but we liked the food and felt the service was great. The BBQ had great sea views and the food was good and the italian was also nice.

Entertainment: The evening entertainment was terrible Thomson really were letting themselves down with what they were doing everynight, every performance we watched was just a joke it was not organised properly, I really thought because it was a new hotel and their first 5* family resort that Thomson would throw there all into making it good but how wrong can you be!!

Kids Club: Our son totally loved kids club they had organised activities everyday and he enjoyed everyone, they also had some late evening parties for the kids 7.30-10.30 which was really a great service. You did have to pay extra for this which was 7 euros but we found it was worth that because the kids all had great fun.

The staff at the blue lagoon are a real mixture of brilliant cant do enough for you and totally rude. The restaurant staff were always excellent but the bar staff could make you feel you were annoying them slightly by being there and interupting their chats. The swim up bar lady was very rude and kept getting annoyed when she got splashed by accident.

We all suffered with dodgy bellys for the whole 2 weeks we were there and speaking to other families they did also so make sure you take imodium with you. Overall we did enjoy our stay but felt very mislead with the star rating because it really wasnt 5* quality. I think the problems with the food etc will get sorted out as the managers really did seem bothered when you were not happy so i think they will put things right. I think in a few years the hotel will achieve its 5* rating but they are not achieving this at the moment. We would not be revisiting this hotel.

We had the pleasure of being offered a transfer from The Blue Lagoon Resort to the Blue Lagoon Village for the last week of our holiday. We did so as our friends who we had travelled with had gone home after a week.

This hotel is gorgeous and in my opinion worthy of its 5 Star Status !!!
We had a room in Block 7000, 2 bedrooms, walk in shower, walk in wardrobes, deep luxurious bath, massive memory foam beds, flat screen tv's in both rooms with a couple of english channels, very contemporary and immaculately clean. We had a gorgeous sea view and a large balcony.
We spent our first day at the Relaxing pool (where the swim up rooms are) and lazed on the day beds. Then the rest of our holidays at the Activity pool, we never had to get up to reserve a sun-bed .. a pleasant surprise and there were loads of empty beds on the beach. One criticism is that there was not much sunbathing space around the main pool by the sea, but I suspect this was for the sand dwellers !
Threre's a beach bar, with toasties, hot dogs and around the activity pool theres a snack bar, pastries, ice cream and a bar. A quick trot up the steps takes you to the plaza area.

The hotel is set within a mountainside, so can be a little steep in parts, with an excellent selection of bars restaurants an onsite mini market, a plaza with bars, boutiques and numerous pools, swim up rooms, jacuzzi rooms and executive suites and with its own private beach and watersports. There is also a boat to kefalos from the beach..

It is a Thomson Super Family Resort and Boogie Baz and the team ensure there is cheesy entertainent aplenty ...which ticked our boxes and was great fun (although they always stop for a chat they are not pushy at all). The hotel is still able to maintain its international flavour, There is entertainment on every night, either from visiting acts, the animation team from the Blue Lagoon Resort who were fab (Foxy !! who knew you could sing like that !!) or the Thomsons team. The entertainment was in a tiered amphitheatre with chairs and tables, lovely to be outdoors and not cooped up in a room. Really loved that !!
My daughter went to Razzamattaz and loved this, putting on a show for the families and meeting friends.
There is a teen club (however my older daughter didn't go ... she met lots of friends within the hotel and she has some vv happy memories (and new facebook friends) ..its opened her eyes to the rest of the world ... and also how teens from other countries can all speak English so brilliantly !!).
The BLV is large enough to loose the kids without being worried. My daughter would go off to the other bars in the evening and i always knew she was safe.
Also for kids (big ans small) there is a free adventure waterslide area, with a small lazy river and a high rope adventure (this cost 10 euros). You can get a golf buggy or take a stroll along the beach, about 5 minutes.
The main restaurant is split into three sections with an excellent choice of hot and cold food, fab salads, a themed area, a Greek area, it was great, never busy with show cooking, we also reserved the Chinese, which was excellent but could not get a reservation at the adventure BBQ, which was a shame, as this involved cooking up a storm yourself !!
There is also a couple only "first date" restaurant and a sushi/fish place.

The staff are really friendly, extremely helpful, even popping your favourite drinks down in front of you without being asked.

There are plenty of lifeguards on duty, one in particular who looked like the chap from Terminator 2 !!

The Watersports are reasonably priced, 12.50euros each for the banana boat and 20euros each for the sofa ... great fun.

NEGATIVES
Not really an ideal resort for people with walking difficulty as the hotel is built into a mountain so can be a little steep and not very easily accessible ...however, i'm sure the hotel would do all they could to accommodate with frequent golf buggies to transfer folk around.
Hotel is a little remote ... 20 mins from Kefalos and 35 mins from Kos Town (which is lovely with some hidden treasures amongst the winding back streets). We didn't realise untill we left that the hotel had a bus service to Kos and Kefalos.
The all Inclusive finishes at midnight ... purchased a drink for a friend we met who's drink was knocked over BY THE WIND (!!!) and it cost me 10.50 euros for a GnT !!!

TIPS
Take a wrap for evenings as the wind can make it a bit chilly.
Take shoes with good grips coz the pathways and hills can be a little slippy. (I left my 6 inch heels in the case)

OVERALL
This hotel ticks all our boxes for a wonderful relaxing holiday, an international flavour with a bit of cheesy entertainment thrown in and it is very rare we would go back to the same hotel but we will definitely return.
Well .... this hotel is gorgeous and i think you can tell we had a fab time when my daughters were sobbing on the coach on the way airport (in the case of my teenager this has never happened before) !!!

Room Tip: There are Jacuzzi rooms, swim up rooms and sea view/pool view rooms. We were in block 7000 with sea...
