Got back last week from staying at the Kamari Bay and the temperature was about 32C in the day and 25-27C at night with a light breeze.

I went with an open mind as it was our first budget holiday in about 15 years and I was getting worried when I saw some of the other hotels on the drop off from the airport. I was pleasantly surprised after reading comments made on here about the owner, John who was nothing but polite and helpful. Our room was basic and there was no room for manoeuvre in the shower compartment but it did the job. However both my husband and I got badly bitten by mosquitoes so I cannot stress enough the need from repellent and bites creams. A cafe owner in Kefalos Village noticed our bites and said that we needed to have air conditioning as it would help which it did however you do have to pay an extra 6 euros per day for this. Also as previously stated on here the breakfasts are very different to what you get in the UK but there are several cafes nearby that serve a full English Breakfast for under 5 euros. The pool area was very clean and the pool bar provided cheap lunch time snacks, hot and cold drinks and ice creams.

We also caught the local bus to Kos Town which cost 4.40 euros each way and it was alot cheaper than going on an organised trip. Check the timetable in the hotel's reception.

We ate out every evening at Sydney's near the harbour as the food and the service was of a very high standard and could not be faulted with their extensive range of freshly made food. On average we spent 30-35 euros per night on a main meal, dessert and drinks for two people.

Some people have commmented on the noise level in the bar and I have to admit that our room was above the bar and some nights it did get a bit loud but we just shut the door at the top of the stairs.

We paid £250 each for this holiday which taking everything into consideration was good value for money and was very relaxing apart from the mosquito bites!

This was our first visit to Kefalos and the Kamari Bay Hotel. After reading previous reviews we were very apprihensive about the attitude of the owner and the impact this could have on our holiday. I have to say that we did not see or hear any of this so called attitude. Yannis was so lovely and helpful, he was friendly and chatty and even went out of his way on several occasions to speak to us and see how we were doing when he bumped into us in the taverna.
The hotel itself was basic, (but we did not pay for a five star) but it was very clean and very well run. All of the staff were friendly and helpful and Tony at the bar was kind, attentive and funny. Many of the guest had returned year after year but we did not feel at all excluded, in fact we found ourselves chatting at the bar with a lot of new friendly people. The whole bar even sang happy birthday to Lee on the big day.
The location of the hotel is perfect, over the road from the beach and there are lots of bars and tavernas along the beach, Maria's was a paticular favourite of ours.
Kefalos itself was quiet but still lively. We did book a lot of excursions and hired a car from Stella at Kefalos tours just over the road from the hotel. I would highly recommend her, she was very friendly and gave lots of advice and tips, the prices were also very good and she and Micheal did everything they could to make sure we had a fabulous time.
Over all this holiday was amazing, the area was wonderful and the people friendly and welcoming, we cant wait to book again for next year.

Its 2 July 2012 and have just got back from a wonderful time in Kefalos, staying at the Kamari Bay hotel. This is our 5th time back to this picturesque resort and its just as beautiful as the first 7 years ago.
We stayed with Yanni at his hotel after using him for the first time last year.
Just as the other reviews state this hotel is ideally situated being a stones throw from the beach and numerous bars and eating places, all taken in during an idealic evening stroll along the bay towards the small fishing quay at the end. What a way to work up an appetite!!!!
Yanni keeps this hotel very clean and tidy and maybe the rooms are lacking in a fridge and tea and coffee facilities but it represents brilliant value for money.
The pool area is perfectly set out with plenty of sunbeds and lots of shade when needed and trust me it is needed. There is also a bar next to the pool serving food drinks icecreams etc.
Tony is the barman inside the hotel and is a very helpful guy. That old thing called "The art of conversation" is always ongoing around the bar as people gather for a drink or two before venturing out for their evening meal.On returning at night the bar continues to buzz as nightcaps are taken. It was never noisy or rowdy.
Got to bide our time now until next June for our return.

Pete and Tracey.
