This is such a lovely friendly hotel. This was my first holiday by myself and felt so looked after and safe here. The hotel and rooms are spotless, and couldn't be faulted. I was in a room closest to bar and although was a bit noisy didnt keep me up. i found the beds very comfortable but that is down to each person. Breakfast yes is just some bread and jam with tea and coffee but then there is option to order other things, and this didn't make any difference to me. The lunches served at the snack bar are yummy and large portions at very reasonable price. This is a family hotel and it adds to the charm when you see the whole family working together. The Greek night on a Tuesday is good fun and nice to see most people getting involved.
The hotel itself is on a quiet road on outskirts of kefalos, but supermarket few mins away and the main road has restaurants and tavernas the whole way down to harbour, takes about half hour to walk all the way down but it is a nice walk. Didn't venture up to the old village but views are meant to be lovely there.
Did 2 trips to zia(mountain village- lovely little place, def worth visit) and tigaki beach and then Aegean cruise which was brilliant and even lucky enough to see dolphins.
All in all one of most enjoyable holidays ever had, and would def go back here again. I always think its a good sign when people return year after year to same place and this certainly happens at the zeus. Thanks to Nikolas, manolis and everyone else for looking after me!!!xxx

Had a two week stay 18th May-1st of June. Loved my Holiday the family couldn't do enough for us.. nothing was too much trouble, the rooms are basic, yet very clean, with fresh towels every day and beds changed regularly. The pool is big and well maintained, with snack bar offset. The food is great, with a nice selection and variety. Good value for money and quality of food is 5 star!
Every night after dinner we stayed at the hotels Bar/lobby. Nikolas and Manos made our nights unforgettable I seriously can't wait to go back, they make you feel like you're part of the family. and the amount of friends we made was great, hope to see them same time every year
I CANNOT WAIT TO GO BACK!!!!

The only complaint i want to make is about the booking process, I booked with Thomas Cook as a package holiday and ended up flying with Easyjet. Thomas Cook didn't want to know about our flight (taking into account i have a fear of flying.) If you booked with Easyjet you get to check in online (with seats allocated) however, we were just thrown on board and i couldn't sit with my BF who calms me down, no option to pre-book seats until you get to the airports. The Airport reps didn't seem to know what they were doing, as people seemed to wonder all over the place. We asked the Thomas Cook rep for help, and she told us "sorry your with easyjet" despite us having the package with Thomas Cook.

Failing that though our own personal Hotel Rep Andy, was great!!! he was always around the hotel to answer questions and recommend things. He always went the extra mile as he went out to get us a fly zapper for the mozzies from the other side of the island... The hours of fun my BF had with that!

Vivianna.

What fun we had. We went to the Zeus Hotel on the 12th May 2013 for 2 weeks. Hotel is spotless - thanks Denise. Zak and Maria who own hotel are lovely. They are so helpful and can't do enough for you. Their sons, Nikolas and Manolis are amazing. Usually we go out for dinner and stay out, returning to the hotel and head to bed. Here we came back after dinner for the evening as they are so nice. They were the highlight of our stay. We will definitely go back. Good luck with your saving fund Nikolas!!!!!!!

Room Tip: Try to get the newly refurbished rooms.

This is the only hotel we have stayed in where the owners have kissed us and shaken our hands when we left, which sums up what everyone has said about this small family run hotel - it is so friendly, relaxed and informal. That alone makes it worth at least a rating of four. In fact, it summarises the resort of Kefalos, which is remote from the main resorts of the north and very quiet, although it still has plenty of restaurants and bars and shops. There are apparently five or so large and inter-connected families in the resort, so everyone knows everyone and is incredibly welcoming. Most people in Kefalos had been several times.

Some possibly useful points:

1. The hotel is pretty typical for Greece. Rooms are basic, the beds are OK but not exactly luxurious, the shower curtain is largely useless, no TV 9who cares?), a small balcony. But they are cleaned everyday, fresh towels. The air con will cost 5 Euros a day; safe 15 a week.
The owners have recntly added some rooms which are much larger and beutifully fitted (and modern showers), although they don't seem to be marketing them. Great for families especially.

2. Facilities include a very clean and pleasant pool with plenty of loungers; a snack bar (breakfast is bread, jam, coffee and tea but blame that on the tour operators screwing down the owners on costs. You can order other items); a lounge and bar. T42 nearby does very good breakfasts and snacks. It is run by a nice British couple: ask for the small booklet on the island produced by another expat (there are abot 300 in Kefalos)
Our only problem with the hotel was the smoking in the bar/lounge (not only the customers but the staff) and fairly constant music, which kept us out in the evenings. But that may not bother you or even be an attraction.

3. The hotel is located on the edge of the resort but suited us well. Shops, restaurants and the best part of the beach are a short walk away. Two of the main sights are close by: Kastri island and the ruined basilicas. Very pretty. We ate regularly at Saccalis. The harbour is about 25 minutes walk.

4. Hire a car if you can: in May the roads were near empty and a joy to drive on. The tour operators will tell you that local hire companies do not really offer "ful insurance" as they advertise but we suspect this was an excuse to charge more than double the local rates. We paid 20 Euros a day for 6 days from Dimitri's on the front on the way to the harbour. Ask for Maria: great English and very helpful and friendly. She has a nice cafe too.

5. Locally, drive to the abandoned monastary of Agios Ionnis: beautiful; Theologos beach (no sand though. Watch the sunset from the only restaurant) and the remains of the ancient city (not much to see but very evocative).
Elsewhere Palio Pyli, with a climb through an abandoned village and up to a ruined castle was the highlight for us, with by far the best views on the island. Follow it with lunch in the square in new Pyli village.
If you can't climb, Antimachia castle has great views over the south coast and is flat and overgrown. Both are free to enter, unless you want to pay the identical looking guys in Greek costume for a photograph. Zia has good views as do the roads to and from it, but is very touristy. We also liked Therme, which is a small thermal pool on the seashore.

6. A boat goes from kefalos harbour to the volcanic island of Nysiros, costing 18 Euros plus 8 for a bus into the crater. Well worth it, and again much cheaper than the operator's exorbitant charges.

7. Speaking of which we were disapointed with the operator's trip to Bodrum. Almost 2 hours on the coach each way to and from Kos Town, crossing by catmaran with no views at all, a "city tour" which spent most of the time in a gold centre. Watch the restaurants too - they tried to overcharge us and others.

But Kos and kefalos are great for a relaxing holiday with some sightseeing if you choose. The best Greek island we have seen and the best resort.

My husband and I travelled to the hotel Zeus from 2nd May until 16th May. The holiday was so reasonable that we did not expect a great deal but we were amazed by what we found.
There is a lovely atmosphere here. All of the staff and owners speak to you and try to make your stay enjoyable. The hotel is really clean and the swimming pool has a lovely view of the surrounding area. We had clean towels every day and the bed linen was changed regularly.

Yes, the breakfast was simple... fresh bread, butter, jam with either tea or coffee. Anyone who wanted a cooked breakfast could pay for one. The lunches were very good, especially
the club sandwiches, all freshy made and reasonably priced.

On Easter Sunday the family did 2 barbequed lambs for their friends and guests, completely complimentary and played Greek music which made it very special.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, had good weather and found it a very relaxing venue.
To the 'Globetrotting Granny' who hadn't a good word to say , if you want more for your money
go elsewhere, or stay at home. We were at the hotel at the same time as this reviewer and considering that we paid only £325 for 2 weeks on a special offer, we were more than pleased.
We travelled with Co-op, at a bargain price for two weeks each. I am sure that the owners were not allowed a great deal out of this for their bed and breakfast.

To Maria and her family..... you have a lovely hotel and you gave a lot of people a wonderful,
memorable holiday. We will definately be back.

If you want a good hotel , where you are well looked after and really welcome, this is the place to go.
