“Great hotel - very clean, with a relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff”
Reviewed 20 June 2011

This is a lovely family-run hotel with very welcoming and friendly staff who make you feel as though you have known them for years.

There's an excellent poolside bar, open from about 11am serving good burgers, pizzas, omelettes etc, great ice creams and milkshakes to keep you cool under the hot sun! The pool was always very clean, and there were plenty of sunbeds and parasols.

The rooms were clean and functional with a little fridge and good sized terraces / balconies, and the option to buy a/c for 7 euros a night if you need it... I believe all of the accommodation has recently been modernised, certainly the block in which we stayed in was very new and we didn't have any complaints (we had 4 rooms between us).

The complimentary breakfast was toast and a hot drink which was fine, although you could pay a small amount extra for something more substantial - lovely fruit salads with their own honey, or fresh eggs from their own hens. The food at the Wednesday night BBQ and Karaoke night was very good and good value at 10 euros all you can eat. If you aren't half board (which we weren't) and are planning on going for dinner down on the beachfront restaurants, make sure you at least go and have a few drinks in the Hermes bar first... Nick and Spiros made us some wonderful cocktails! There is a good sized bar and pool room, and the karaoke was especially entertaining... we just hope they enjoyed our version of Bohemian Rhapsody!

Down along the beachfront, we particularly liked Captain John's and also Maria's restaurant for dinner, but weren't so keen on Sebastian's that everyone else seemed to like, but then again we may just have been unlucky.

It's probably worth noting that Kefalos itself is quite a sleepy town and so are the restaurants and bars along the beachfront, which are a short walk from the hotel down a gentle hill (5-10 minutes walk). Having been to Kos a few times now, f you are looking for nightlife then the resort of Kardamena would be much more suitable, however, if you want a really relaxed, chilled out holiday then Kefalos is ideal.

All in all, a very good holiday, thanks to the staff at Hermes for making it a very relaxing and pleasurable stay!

Hermes Hotel is a fantastic holiday for everyone. Myself and my partner have just got back from here after a HALF BOARD week stay (9th-16th June 2011). We arrived early hours in the morning and the staff instantly made you feel welcome. The rooms are basic but cleaned every day, we had a balcony which over looked the gorgoeus sea front. The food is fantastic and everything is homemade everyday which has plenty of variety and the portions were more than enough (we never left the resturant hungry) they have a all you can eat Sundays and all you can eat BBQ Wednesdays including karoke aswell!! They also have a snack bar by the pool which again is great it has plenty of variety from sandwiches to pizzas. The pool is gorgeous and very clean, the sun is on it all day and the sun loungers are free to use and theres plenty for everyone. The location is so peaceful in the day and at night. We hired a quadbike for 2 days which was 15euros a day so we went and visited Kos Town which is fab and plenty to see and took us only 45minutes to get there, We also went to Lido Waterpark which is good fun and very clean. The weather was perfect and very hot with a gentle breeze. All in all the holiday was perfect. The hospitality in the hotel was beyond our expectations and they always did there very best in everything they did. We will be definatley visiting here in the new year, if i could i would go back tomorrow!!

we stayed here in August 10, family run hotel......unfortunately wouldn't return, if you have young children. A member of staff approached us at the poolside and requested that our 6 year old stop making a noise! Apparently screaming too loudly.....? we were quite saddened by this as we frequently travel to Greece and never been told to keep quiet around the pool area. Also very unacommodating if you attempt to order a snack 5 minutes after 4pm, had to walk down that hill to a local restaurant where the owners were actually apologising for the staff at the Hermes and kindly gave us a lift back to the hotel after ordering our poolside snacks from the restaurant!!!!!! Dont attempt to allow your children to stay up after 12 midnight - bearing in mind its their holiday too, as a member of staff chastised us for allowing this. Will be staying at a family orrientated hotel this year......The air conditioning is a necessity but very expensive.

My wife and I are regular visitors to Kefalos but this is the first time we have stayed at the Hermes. The rooms where large airy and well maintained and where cleaned regularly by bright and cheerfull staff. The owner Diana, her husband and kids could not do enough to make our stay enjoyable and made us most welcome.

The hotel is a little out of the main village and is part way up a bit of a hill so guests need to be aware that a little bit of energy is required.

A good large pool with snack bar is available for those not inclined to walk down to the beach.

Room Tip: Providing you are fit - go for a top floor room 3.

A great hotel.
Bedrooms are immaculate,with great showers.
Quite a steep walk from the hotel bar up to the rooms, but the views are gorgeous.
Large ,clean pool with bar providing snacks and drinks
The owners are very accomadating, we hired a jeep
The town of kefalos was so quiet .....maybe a little quiet for some, but we found it ideal.
Great restaurants and friendly bars.
The Acropol Bar makes you so welcome as do all of the restaurants.Nothing is too much for the locals, they are so helpful and pleasant.
We found it very cheap to eat and drink.Try Sebastians and Sirtaki ...wonderful places to eat, great menus and staff
Would certainly return to this part of Kos...it felt like stepping back in time....all that was missing was the drachma!

Room Tip: 318 had very good views of the bay

Me and my Missus got back on the 10th of June.
The Hotel is clean apart from the huge flying ants that seem to occupy the balcony.
The hospitality is second to none the Hotel is run by a great Familly.
The Breakfasts are basic but can be supplemented at little extra cost.
Can't really complain about anything other than we never seen a Thomas Cook rep during the whole stay, until we went to the airport on the way home, then he put a disabled chap in our cue that was going to Birmingham and our cue was for EMA.
You can get a pint for roughly 2.50 euro and a meal for two with a drink is roughly around 20 euro.
We tried the T42 place on the main strip and they make the best cup of Tea ever, and the Breakfasts are really good value.
Marias at the sea front is great for Cod & Chips and Memories bar at the sea front is also very good value for long drinks.
The trip to Nisyros was great and the bus to Kos town was really easy and on time.
If you decide to got to the old town of Kefalos which is a right turn out of the Hermes use the steps next to the estate agent because it cuts out 10 mins of a walk up the hill.
We would definitely go back "next time i'll take my drivers licence" that's the only thing we missed.
All in All a GREAT PLACE..........

Room Tip: We stayed in room 320 the view was fantastic

This is a family run hotel, which is exceptionally good on the service. I went here on my own with my 8 year old daughter. The owners of this hotel were great with my daughter. They made her all the food that she liked. They even went out and bought her English sausages. We stayed on a half board basis and although breakfast was only a choice of toast or cereal, the evening meal was delicious. Would so recommend it.

The rooms are immaculate and cleaned every day, apart from Sunday's. The location is just beautiful, with amazing views. Although the hotel is at the top of a steep hill. We booked a quad bike out for the week, which cost us £85 euros. This helped us to get around the island and up and down the big hill. Kefalos is very quite and very peaceful. The people are just lovely. I would recommend this hotel and Kefalos to any single parent going on holiday. You do feel very safe.
