These beds were so comfortable. The room are very nice and they have a wonderful pool with swim up bar. The room are missing little things like ice bucket and full length mirror, etc... the money definately went into the mattresses.

Room Tip: Get a room in the front of the building by the pool. Stay away from weekends when the pool is full o...

So, we were on our trek from Panama City heading home to David and alas the dusk was settling in before we could make it. Hence, we chose the safety of staying put versus risking the roads at night. We had a few choices in Santiago but decided on Hotel Gran David. From the road it looks very nice and honestly don't recall seeing it on our various other trips to the capital.

Apparently it was recently renovated. We checked some reviews and other then noise complaints (during the renovation I'd imagine) it seemed alright. We checked into a suite and wao was it huge! Two queen beds with a tremendous amount of space left over even after you throw in two sofas a flat screen television and a desk. Bathrooms were spotless and very nice.

While we did hear some of the noise from the Interamericana it really isn't anything different then what you'd hear while staying in the downtown of any major city.

Breakfast the next morning was very good. Of course I am partial to chocolate pancakes. :)

All in all a great stay at a good price.

This hotel was a nice stay along the road on our travel. The hotel looks quite beautiful on first sight the rooms are missing little things like ice bucket, full length mirror, the trim would be missing from around a door not like it was broken off but as if they just had never completed the room. The staff who spoke English were quite nice. The pool area is fabulous with great food and bar. When travelling there on the weekends when hot the hotel sells day passes to the locals so you have the pool area packed with families and children, which was quite different from our first stay there the week before which was during the week and there was just a handful of people there.

We were traveling back from Bocas del Toro and this was a perfect place to stop for the night. The pool was welcoming and warm. The room was new and very euro style. Very comfortable bed and clean. They had a hugh wedding upstairs from our room and we never heard the music from our room.

The receptionist, was rude and not very helpful. We stayed here on Sat. night March 23. I believe the reseptionists name was Rachel?

Friendly staff, very helpful, reasonable rates, nice pool, very clean, good parking, very good breakfast, comfortable beds, quiet hotel.

We thought this was an excellent place to stay and to use as a base to explore in different directions.

Stayed here two nights in February 2013 for a good rest before continuing our trip up north. The hotel has been remodeled since 2003. Newer remodeling is currently underway and it is definitely looking good. The prices are acceptable and the rooms near the swimming pool were pretty good. The swimming pool is outstanding! There alot of smoke due bush fires from a dry field relatively close. Because the door was cut unevenly ther was a two inch space on the top left corner where smoke made its way into our room. I quickly fixed this issue by placing a towel in its place. Afterward the room was alright, a/c was adequate, beds and linen were clean, hot and cold water pressure was great. We are use to staying at places where a small fridge, coffee maker and microwave are on hand, but that's not the case here. On our return, we again stayed for a night. Ths time no smoke but the room was below average. Hotel restaurant is fair. You can grab a bite to eat almost anywhere in the vicinity. Even thought our experience here was average, I do recommend this nice cozy hotel for a short time period.

Room Tip: If you make prior reservations, you may even have available the suites with a balcony near the swimm...

Wonderful place to stay. Right off the highway. Great bed and shower . People were very friendly. Very interesting books in the lobby to look through. Great food too! For the money you just can't beat this hotel!

Room Tip: we stayed in the old part and it was fine.
