6 adults and two young children visited for a cream tea recently. This has held in the library, which was quite a nice atmosphere. Service however was very slow and I had to chase up the waiter to serve us. The cream tea was very nice, although not huge - have been other places where you cant eat it all. Choice of types of tea was also good. We also got the impression that they would have rather we didn't bring our children with us - nothing was said just looks etc. Overall a pleasant experience but not the best.

Took a friend for a cream tea.The tea was nice, the food was perfectly fine. However I have some feedback about the cleanliness. We were seated in the library which was lovely accept for the fact you could clearly see there was thick dust on top of the arch above the door way.

My Wife and I spent a night at this beautiful hotel, the deal included dinner, bed and breakfast, the Hotel itself is fantastic and very relaxing, the staff are very friendly and attentive, we stayed in a courtyard room which was of a high standard, the dinner was excellent as was the breakfast, we paid a one off payment of £5:50 and had breakfast in bed, I would happily stay again.

Being lucky enough to hold our Wedding at Oakley Hall we already knew how wonderful the staff was. The attention to detail for our stay was second to none. Another beautiful room all decorated up and had the special addition touches of Flowers, Champagne, Chocolate coated strawberries and a Choccywoccydoodah cake. Surround sound within the room, Huge walk in Bathroom (wet room) with own separate walk in shower and free standing bath, didn’t try the bath but the shower was out of the world, huge and extremely powerful.

Had full use of the grounds and we made full use of this during our stay. The afternoon Tea was catered for in the new lounge area at the front of the hotel where the old hotel office use to be, again the room had been finished off to a high spec and were able to get the best seats in the room overlooking the wonderful views from bay window. Afternoon Tea with free flowing, plenty of drinks offer and wonderful amount of Sandwiches, Scones and cakes, so many infact we asked if we could take some back to the room with us and these were boxed up without a problem at all. My wife is also Gluten free normally this provides a problem when eating out but Oakley Hall were amazing, they catered for every need, personal gluten free afternoon tea.

We help reservations later in the stay in the Winchester Room, 2 AA rosetted restaurant. We knew the food was second to none from the wedding breakfast, since then they have gained more awards and the food was amazing. Well worth the money. Again my Wife had freshly made gluten free bread at the table; all courses were catered around her once ordered. We had Duck for Starter, Wife had Pork for main and I had Steak. All cooked to perfection. We could have had Desserts but were so full offered to have Cocktails in the Library room instead after our meal. IN each room they had chilled out background music and we could enjoy our time in each room chatting freely.

Bed’s are huge yet again and the rooms are so quiet you have no need to worry about not sleeping. Normally at hotels I struggle to sleep but at Oakley never had this problem. Getting out of bed is the only problem. Breakfast was also in the Winchester Room cook to the indervidual requirements that you wish. Top, well cooked breakfast!! The staff during our stay were friendly and some were even the same as on the wedding.

We were offered a special rate (package) due to being wed at Oakley and it being our 1st Anniversary. Early check in late check out, if anyone is thinking about a romantic getaway look no further, you will not be disappointed.

Thank you to all the Staff at Oakley Hall making our 1st Wedding Anniversary such a special one.

Room Tip: Not all rooms have a walk in wet room shower, ask if this is what you require if baths are not for y...

We were three mums having a night away from the kids and Oakley Hall not only looked after us very well but even upgraded us to the cottage in the grounds. We were on the Hampshire Retreat deal which made the whole stay great value and allowed us to splash out a bit more on the wine. Staff were very friendly and it was nice to end the stay with a walk around the grounds. A unscheduled stop in Basingstoke to do a spot of shopping just rounded off the whole weekend perfectly .

Our third overnight stay and again it was top class. We booked a very good dinner, bed and breakfast package on the hotel's website. Hotel is situated in beautiful grounds and the hotel is reached by a long, sweeping drive. Rooms are in a quiet courtyard about 50 yards from the main hotel building. Parking is available right outside the room. Huge bed, fabulous bathroom with lovely large bath plus the indulgence that you can listen to the TV through a dedicated speaker in the bathroom. Room had a fridge, a table and chairs. Doors from our room opened onto a patio with table and chairs.
Dinner was superb. Great quality with excellent service and a lovely view of the grounds. Breakfast was also top quality, cooked to order - no queuing at a buffet.
Staff throughout the hotel were friendly and service was efficient. Would happily stay again.

My husband purchased the deal through travel zoo for a weekend at Oakley hall inclusive of breakfast and dinner. We were inclined to this location as it is very near our home, yet offering a true getaway from city stresses.

I was truly taken in by the location, strangely it is not very far from a fairly busy town, but when we arrived at the grounds, it was like being in the middle of the countryside. The main hall is beautiful, and reminds me of the estates in 18th century novels. The village area nearby is also quaint and we had plenty to do around the area.

We stayed at the clock tower suite, lovely room with a lounge downstairs. I believe this area would have been Horse stables in the past, looking at the configuration of the suites and the rooms. The clock tower suite would probably have been the best rooms to get apart from the private cottage which was further away from the main hall.

The dining room was small and intimate and you need to book timings for your meal. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinners, and the chef took consideration to our dietary restrictions, and served us exquisite meals. Breakfast was sumptuous and hearty. Had we known to book in advance for the high tea service in the library, we would have loved to try it.

The staff served us attentively and were extremely helpful. It was a perfect way to spend the weekend.

Built in 1795, Oakley Hall has a distinguished and fascinating past. The author Jane Austen was a friend of the Bramston family – the then owners – she was a frequent visitor to Oakley Hall and it is mentioned fondly in Austen’s letters to her sister Cassandra. A later owner, William Beach, added a second storey to the house, so creating the grand and impressive building that 21st century visitors can still enjoy. He also employed landscape gardener and architect Edward Milner to design Oakley Hall’s gardens. In 2014, a major restoration project saw Oakley Hall Hotel returned to its full glory, ensuring that visitors will continue to fall in love with Oakley Hall’s Georgian splendour and charm for many years to come. With 50 beautiful bedrooms, suites and even a delightful Garden Cottage from which to choose, guests can indulge in a luxurious stay, enjoy a relaxing drink in the 1795 Bar & Lounge and a fine dining experience in the award-winning 2 AA Rosette Glasshouse Restaurant.
