Hotel has WOW factor! We booked a Courtyard Suite with Breakfast included for £165, and were given the clocktower room. Absolutely beautiful and clean room. Furnishings might not be to everyones taste but dont let this put you off. Beds comfy, bathroom spacious.
Breakfast was very tasty although at £22 per head booking it as part of the package is recomended!
Overall, we would highly recommend the hotel. Top marks!

Room Tip: Clocktower room has a spiral staircase to bedroom which would not suite the mobility impaired. Its a...

Attending my nephews wedding held at Oakley Hall. The whole day was a wonderful experience, the setting superb and staff attention to detail without question the best i have ever experience as a well seasoned traveler across the world. Stayed overnight and had a wonderful breakfast with other family members. My compliments to both staff and management for all they did to make the event such a memorable occasion. Cant wait to visit again, just need an excuse ha ha

Room Tip: Just come prepared to relax and be pampered

My son and future daughter in law booked this venue for their wedding. The Hall and grounds are the most idyllic place to bring your family and friends for such an event. We spent 2 nights in one of the courtyard rooms. These are spacious and comfortable with very high quality fixtures and fittings. The bathroom even had a heated floor! One small point - I was unable to work out how to turn the lights off (reception were helpful) and despite there being 4 choices of lighting levels available, only the 50% option appeared to work. As many complimentary newspapers as you wanted were available on all days with other nice touches such as a bed turning down service and fresh fruit. We had breakfast in the dining room on both mornings which provided an excellent choice and very good quality hot and cold food. An ideal place to stay for that special celebration or weekend away.

On the trail of Jane Austen, i booked an Afternoon tea to end our afternoon, the staff was very nice but seriously under staffed, we asked for some cream to finish the scones it takes an extremely long time to arrive by then the miniature scones were eaten, to add insult to injury our stressed and over stretched waiter told that he was asked by his colleague to do something else since when the clients came after staff needs!!!! Would I recommend the place No, it is a big hotel that really is not in tune with the needs of their clientele, shame. There is far better place to spend time for an afternoon tea, and the place has lost all his ancient charm!!!!

Room Tip: Cannot recommend the hotel as we only went for Afternoon tea

We went for afternoon tea in the library, which provided a very nice setting. The staff were friendly and efficient. The tea itself was ok, the finger sandwiches were fresh, but the scones, (usually the highlight of such an occasion), were disappointly small, they could best be described as minature, button-size, one-bite size. The small cakes were full of too much cream, and whilst I like cream I didn't want almost every cake filled or topped with it - after all we had clotted cream with the scones! A piece of lemon drizzle cake, or a slice of fruit cake, or a home-made bakewell tart would have been, in my view, preferable. At £20 a head a bit more attention to detail on the composition of the tea would not go amiss to ensure that it represents better value for money, there is plenty of competition out there!

Had couple of days away, after a rather hectic time at home. Stayed in the Courtyard rooms. Fantastic - so quiet and peaceful. Restaurant was great with old fashioned service. This was our second visit and we will certainly be returning

Room Tip: Courtyard rooms great

A lovely hotel in a superb location with lots of quality touches and well worth an overall 4+ score.
All public areas are very attractive and with lots of character. Excellent restaurant, superb food both evening and breakfast with similar high quality snacks served in the library. The serving staff are also first class. The courtyard executive rooms are very spacious and beautifully decorated and an equally spacious high quality en suite with separate bath and double size walk in shower. The only downside of the courtyard rooms is the walk to the main hotel- very pleasant when the sun was shining but rather less so when wet and windy! I would happily score 4.5 for this hotel if it were possible but, for me, to earn 5 stars things have to be near perfect relative to the cost. There are always a few minor irritations but the one major let down was the slightly grubby carpet. This is not a reflection of the overall cleanliness, it is simply that it is inevitable that when entry to a room is directly from outside and people do not wipe their feet properly, the carpet will become grubby. I do not think that this is acceptable for rooms with a rack rate of well over £200 per night and the management should factor in a more regular carpet cleaning programme. Nonetheless, I would highly recommend this hotel.
