“Stunning Hotel combining country house charm with modern elegant rooms”
Reviewed 19 February 2010

My room was in the gated court, great for parking the car right outside the room and very convenient as no lugging heavy brief cases around. As a solo female traveller being on the ground floor at the back can be a little unnerving, I like to open my window at night and did not feel comfortable to do so. That said the area around the window was very private and well lit (even at night which if you like the dark to sleep would not be ideal)Apart from that it was like heaven! Wonderful bathroom, very comfortable bed, a nice table and chair to relax in and watch some TV and to return from dinner to your bathrobe, slippers and handmade chocolates was a girls dream! Not being a breakfast eater coffee and complimentary fruit in my room was a nice touch. Shame the mini bar was not stocked as I would have most likely had a glass of wine in the bath! (Sure I could have requested this if I'd thought about it) The court rooms are a little walk from the main hotel but well lit paths and beautiful gardens made it a pleasant one. Can't wait to return in the summer so I can enjoy the grounds more. Staff friendly and helpful and most important to me the hotel was spotlessly clean. Can't believe the value for money with the 3 night deal. When you turn into the drive of this hotel you just know you made the right choice..... fabulous!

Very pleasant stay from start to finish. Helpful and attentive staff. Clean and spacious rooms. Modern in a traditional setting. Afternoon tea was delightful and dinner just perfect. Would definitely recommend it. Shame we could stay longer.

We stayed here just for one night, wish it was longer. The staff were very helpful. The food excellent. Go for a walk in the grounds, listen to how quiet the area is. Not really far from major road connections, A34, M4, M3, A303. The room was spacious, the bed very comfortable. No complaints about this lovely hotel at all.

Stayed on the 13th February and booked a Valentines package for £198 in a Courtyard Room, I can't fault our stay, the room was the cheapest available but was excellent and lovely and clean, all mod cons, free wireless and bottled water. On arrival had afternoon tea which was delicious, we then checked into our room and was greeted with a red rose and a chilled bottle of champagne, we was only expecting a glass each! We had a lovely relaxing afternoon and then had a lovely dinner in the evening. The following morning we had breakfast and the food again was excellent, staff very friendly and helpful. All this was included in the price, only paid extra for our drinks bill. The pictures do not do the rooms justice and the stay exceeded our expectations would recommend this hotel!

Beautiful old building in English country landscape. Stayed one day for partner's birthday. Slightly worn out the lobby area and the bar.
Spotless clean room. Very comfortable big rooms, quality finishings. Free wireless, big TV screen, HD DVD. Spacious big bed good quality linen.
Had afternoon tea. Lovely & relaxing served in the library. Tasty sandwiches, yummy scones and home made jams.. The only criticism is when the waiter forgot we asked some water and extra tea. We had to look for him 20mins later. However, he was very apologetic when he brought them.
Dinner in the restaurant was great. Beautiful food. Great variety dishes even for vegetarians without lacking imagination. Very good service.
Excellent breakfast which for only a small extra fee can be served in your room!.Breakfast can be served up to 10am weekdays and up to 10.30am weekends.
Lovely stay overall!
We felt like we needed an extra day. Certainly we could go back for some clay sooting :-)
