“Just lacking a touch of luxury”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 March 2014

Even though I'm thankful that there weren't a mountain of pillows on my bed, I felt that Latimer Place just lacked the extra touch of class and luxurious comfort that some of the other DeVeres venues have.
A former Manor House, Latimer Place has the potential to be one of the best of the DeVeres hotels, but despite the beautiful setting, the small touches let it down. With the conference I was on, the projector was not checked before we started; the towels and the toilet paper were coarse; there were no coat hooks on the back of the toilet doors; the heater in the rooms automatically turned off at certain times of the day giving you incomplete control of the heat of the room; the tv channels weren't preset; even the normally overwhelming amount and quality of food felt a little sparse.
The redeeming thing was the friendliness of Charlie on the night desk.
I have visited four other DeVeres venues, and I can only say that if you have a choice, go instead to the Denham Grove venue.

Dear Sam C

Thank you for your review on tripadvisor, I did receive some great feedback following your event at Latimer, with a few niggles that were addressed with the team. Denham Grove our sister property is fantastic and we both hope to see you back soon.

Very nice hotel, good value for money. We stayed for one night, the staff were friendly and helpful, the room was nice and comfortable and the hotel provided free and fast wifi to the customers which turned out to be very convenient

We stayed here the night after a Wembley cup final. The hotel was easy to find and the grounds are very impressive. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The hotel was a 5 minute taxi ride from the train station where you could get a tube direct to Wembley Park in 25 minutes. We didn't have time to use the leisure facilities but they looked impressive. We had a short walk around the grounds prior to checking out and they were fantastic with an abundance of wildlife! We went into London after the match and got a tube back from Aldgate to Chalfont & Latimer which took an hour. We didn't eat breakfast this time but the £8.50 offer looked great value. Would return in the future.

I hosted a conference at this venue for around seventy people last week. We had pretty much exclusive use of the Cormorant Suite. As with any large event, there were niggling issues, but as soon as the staff were made aware of them, the issues were remedied immediately. The customer service was broadly excellent, and staff well well above and beyond what you would normally expect in order to make sure our needs were met. The food was of a very high standard indeed (which I wasn't expecting for conference food). Finally, the manager was particularly careful to respond to a complaint from one of my delegates, making it clear what steps were being made to prevent his experience happening again.

It's unrealistic to expect everything to be perfect all the time; what matters is the service you receive, and I found the service at this venue to be absolutely excellent.

Room Tip: The rooms in the old house were lovely (and had baths)

I stayed for 2 nights at Latimer place , this one of my favourite training locations, Once again the location is awesome ,fantastic grounds, superb leisure facilities, and for my needs top quality training rooms, The staff are attentive, and the food is very good. Mr room was 210 and was clean and comfortable with superb views, and was adequate for my needs. There is some restoration work in place on this wing however this was in no way a problem. Yet another good Deveres purpose Hotel with a great history.

Room Tip: 210 for a single great views.

We stayed here in February as guests at a wedding and could not fault the arrangements and standard of service we experienced. It was a wonderful day. However the weekend was spoiled by poor quality items in and a lack of attention to the cleanliness of our room. Room 210 at the top of the main house has great views over the main driveway to the house and over the River Chess and hotel gardens. The bedroom is small but comfortable, the bathroom reasonably large but basic. Unfortunately the room also had roller blinds with frayed edges, ancient and rather ineffective radiators (thank goodness it was not a cold weekend) and, worst of all, recessed ceiling lights in the bathroom that were full of dead flies. We only noticed these just before we left for home when I happened to glance up at the ceiling. On closer inspection of the roller blind in the bathroom we then found another dead fly wrapped in it. On checkout a short while later the receptionist was most apologetic and offered a reduction in the room rate which we accepted. Before writing this review I contacted De Vere Hotels and received another apology and a promise that these matters would be rectified.

This would have been an unacceptable state to find any hotel room in but for one that costs £120 per night this was appalling. There had clearly been a complete breakdown in the management of room maintenance and clearly the room cannot have been inspected properly for a very long time. This hotel needs a root and branch review of their procedures.

Have stayed here twice in the last 6 months, cant fault it. Excellent reception and dining room st a ff, rooms on each occasion very good, lovely setting with some history to it, personally I can't fault the place. Seems to me looking at some of the negative reviews some people are very hard to please.

Room Tip: I travel alot and this is a really good place to stay.
