Just returned from a weeks holiday staying at this hotel and really enjoyed it. The hotel is very clean, modern and the facilities are fab. Facilities include sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, swimming pool and even a massage room if you want to pay for one. They supply you with toothbrushes, combs, shower caps etc which is a nice tough and rooms are cleaned daily with fresh towel provided if you need them. Mini bar in the room and room service is available although we didn't use either of these as the prices were massively expensive. €3 for a small bottle of water seemed excessive to us!! Air con in the room is free which is a bonus and rooms are very spacious. Only downside for our room 331 was the view. We were at the back of the hotel facing a residential area with no balcony so ask for a pool view if you can. members of staff we spoke to were very polite and extremely helpful especially when needing advise about places to visit, buses etc. Pool area was lovely although when busy especially over the weekends you may have to wait for a sun lounger. Drinks at the bar were again expensive but we just took our own soft drinks down to the pool which was not a issue. We chose the b&b option and we are glad we did. Lots of choice including cereals, yogurts, fruit, various cold meats, bacon, sausage, eggs, lots of different breads and condiments, tea, coffee, juices, cakes and lots more. Be sure to chance the time on your phones as we missed breakfast the first day!!! Also make sure you get there well within serving times as the staff are pretty sharp at removing all the food when serving time is up. 8-11am weekends and 7-10am in the week.

Nearest shop is about €15 mins away. 'TOP TIP' we used the hospital cafe area right next to the hotel to buy our bottled water, (€1.50 for a big bottle), soft drinks, snacks and sandwiches etc. You can even buy hot and cold food which is far cheaper than the hotel. Not as cheap as the local shop but saves the 1/2 hour round trip up and down the hill to the hotel. If you do go to the shop there is also a couple of little bars/restaurants which serve some very traditional tapas. Lovely food and a very typical locals place.

In terms of getting around we found the underground the best option. If using the underground make sure you get a T10 card which can be purchased at all stations. You get 10 trips with this card and it can be used between as many people as you want. No need to buy individual tickets. Cost €9.80 which is a lot cheaper than €2 pp per trip. The nearest station itself is about a ten minute walk away through the local park. All downhill so not so bad going there but the not so fit people may find it tough walking the hill back to hotel. We did try to use the buses once but the drivers spoke very little English so we ended up jumping on and off buses for about an hour trying to get to town so found the underground much easier. We did get a taxi one night back form Barcelona at a cost of €13 which we felt was good value. Take a fan with you as the underground is very hot. Trains every few minutes and are air conditioned which was great. You can get all around Barcelona using this method of transport.

Places to visit are endless but we especially enjoyed the water show which is on thurs-Sunday, every half hour from 9pm and free of charge. We even managed to watch Barcelona play. All stations are within walking distance of the major attractions so easily accessible.

Could go on forever about this holiday. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the hotel and Barcelona is a beautiful city. Would with out a doubt recommend Abba Gardens to anyone. Its a 5* service and great value for money.

Room Tip: Ask for a poolside room. You get a balcony

We had to stay one night at this hotel in order to join the next morning a group of participants in a congress in other city.Cleanliness is not up to what is expected of an hotel of this (supposed) category. Its location, far from public transport,is a problem. The service at the resturant, quality and choice of food are the lowest we ever found in Spain. The price of the room was clearly excesive.

Room Tip: look for other hotels

We stayed here for 5 nights as a base to explore Barcelona and join a tour group. The hotel has some nice facilities (pool, restaurant, bar) and is reasonably modern. It a bit far from the city but is only a 15 minute walk to the Zona Universitaria metro stop on the L3 green line which can take you straight into the city and connects to the other metro lines. We used the metro nearly every day, buy the T10 10 trip ticket if using the metro a lot, €9.80 for 10 trips vs €2 for a single trip. The free wifi is ok when it works. Despite a strong signal in the room , It was not always possible to connect(or you may get randomly disconnected), it required a lengthy usename/password every 24 hours and blocks voip / vpn and some email prgrams unless you pay an extra €9 a day, a rip off in my opinion.

Abba Garden Hotel have some nice features like comfortable beds, a calm environment, and a nice pool.

Unfortunately there also are some problems:
The room is not very clean altough new towels and sheets are provided daily.
The bathroom ceiling leaked which was brought to the reception's attention three times, every time it was just fixed temporarily.
The so-called "family room" we stayed in was big enough, and the extra bed was comfortable, but it was not a room intended for more than 2 persons if one checks the amount of drinking glasses and hook for towels etcetera.
The wifi is free which is nice, but a new, long, password and username is required every 24-hours.
The reception staff is nice enough, the same does not applies to some of the bar/restaurant staff. There were a long wait to get to order, an even longer until our drinks arrived, not to mention the food. Then we got served severly undercooked fish and when the new attempt finally arrived the plates were put down with a "thump" by a grumpy waiter without a word.
There is a charge for pool towels.
A water boiler in the room would have been nice.
The location is far from the center of Barcelona and if you take the metro home it is a 15 minute walk up hill (not nice in the Spanish summer heat, an advice is to learn how the buses run).

Room Tip: Chose a room towards the pool area so the afternoon sun doesn't get the room to hot (at least in summer).
