stopped overnight before diving through to perpignan for rugby . lovely hotel helpful staff , a good experience all round was perfect for our needs .not sure how far it is to centre of barcelona as we did not have time for that due to an early start the next day. there are buses close by and the reception staff have all the routes and times printed out .
We found this an ideal stop both directions driving to Ibiza and return using the Barcelona ferries. Easy to find just off the ring road and autoroute and close enough (10 mins) to the port area, heavy traffic both directions means allow extra time. Beware there are two Albert Einstein roads if using sat Nav, best not to use that part of the address..
Car park is secure, and all the hotel facilities were excellent to the Ibis standard. Evening meal a little limited, but this is a very good value hotel for Barcelona. Taxi to centre cost us 17euros, can be a lot more with traffic apparently. Local metro is a short walk away, neighbourhood is industrial shopping centre type, seemed safe enough.
Rooms are lovely, hotel recently refurbished so no problems there.
Reception was particularly helpful, if obviously understaffed at busy times.
ok so bare in mind three things:
1. we hired a car during our stay (if you hire a car book it online first it will save you a lot)
2. there is a shopping complex (Splau) 5 minute walking distance. (lots of cheap and tasty food options)
3. we are travelling with two adults and a 21 month old baby.
Hotel meals are small and expensive but there is a restaurant available and they have 24hr room service. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly and although it is a bit pricey everything we had, food and drink wise, was good. The alternative is the shopping centre. It offers a vast array of tasty and affordable meals and it is easy to walk there and back.
The Ibis was very clean and comfortable. The room was small and there is no fridge in the room. the TV has a lot of channels however, i think there was only 3 channels in english. there is free wifi it isn’t great but you can manage with it. parking is free and semi secured. the rooms are air conditioned and you can open the window too. The location is very quiet, no street noise. however i believe that if you had noisy guests next to you it could disrupt your sleep.
30 minutes maximum drive time to all the major attractions and parking in and around Barcelona city centre, compared to Sydney Australia, is ridiculously cheap. also make a note nothing opens before 9-10am and pretty much nothing opens on sunday.
