The vacation there could be much more better. The staff was not kind at all, at the front desk they were very bearish. The room was not easy to find, because there are apartments in the hotel with same numbering. With three children and luggages we have failed the direction and nobody said one word at the reception. They haven't informed us, that we can also have some snack before lunch at the swimming pools, so we ate some at the bar, poor supply. The place was fine, but the staff ruined our relaxation.

The service mainly due to the Slovak crew is really good as well as the food but that's it for the pros if you aren't Austrian... For €500 per night we expected good English speaking people at the reception too but instead the reception desk people were only Austrian fluently speaking and misunderstood simple spelled sentances in English... Although you are nowhere near ski sloapes Do not use the the driver! He is in his 80's and not reliable.. We waited 1 hour with my 7 year old in the cold because he forgot us... The bathroom is like in a 2 stars hotel with only 1 (leaking...) sink for a family room and the cleaning is questionable.. My Iphone recharger disappeared, the safe was not working as well as the TV and none were changed... If you really need to go there make sure you have your Austrian dictionnary as the local Austrian dialecte is different from German too!

Room Tip: Choose another hotel if you do not speak Austrian!

I've been staying at The Dilly for business travel the past two years. I've never been disappointed. The rooms are modest yet clean and comfortable with true Austrian alpine charm. The views are spectacular! Breakfast is one of the best I've had in Europe and included in the price of the room. Dinner is also very good and provides true Austrian cuisine. The location of the Dilly resort is nicely situated just at the edge of the Windischgarsten village and within easy walking distance of everything you need. The distance to the train station might be a long walk with luggage or ski equipment, but I'm sure the Dilly would arrange for transportation. Whether skiing, hiking, wellness or business, the Dilly is the place to stay in the Windischgarsten area.

Pros:
- value/cost ratio
- excellent location
- wellness facilities, esp. pool
- customer orientation (head of the service Jozef was very helpful)
- try to keep different groups apart (f.e. families with small kids and the rest of the guests)
- as we were Slovaks we welcomed several opportunities to speak our language with the staff

Cons.:
- sometimes the guest is expected to know the hotel "rituals"
- almost none information leaflets in English (German only) - still most of staff is able to speak English and is very helpful

Room Tip: always go for the balcony

We got a friendly welcome with a glass of sparkling wine which we enjoyed in the cosy foyer. In the meantime out luggage was taken to our room, to which we were also escorted by a member of staff. Comfortable room. Plenty of space. Friendly staff in restaurant. Good food and wine. Excellent breakfast buffet with range of coffees from machine. Wide range of classes offered in fitness centre (pilates, yoga etc.) We spent three days and nights here and are likely to return. Sauna and pool area nice but currently undergoing construction work.
The hotel offers a mid afternoon snack in its half.board package, This was great but the staff really took their time about clearing the tables so we had to sit among other people's dirty plates. On our last evening here ( a Saturday) the restaurant service at dinner time was chaotic and slow. On the other two eveinings everything was fine.
Pleasant relaxing atmosphere in hotel, nice music, good massage..
The most important things were clean but the ash tray on our balcony was full when we arrived and the crumbs that were on the floor by the sofa when we arrived were still there when we left.

Room Tip: We had a room with a south facing balcony and dividing wall. This gave us a beautiful view and a sep...

We (8 people of 4 kids, parents and grandparents) spent 10 days in Dilly in August 2010.
Each day was different and great! If you wish an active family vacation, Dilly is right choice.
The location is excellent! The room view in the morning was so beautiful!
There are many places to visit, to walk, to enjoy.
The rooms and the hotel is very clean! We had very comfortable family suite! Our grandparents had nice but may be too small room, anyway this issue they remember at least!
The stuff is very family friendly!
The owners are very involved in daily life and hotel's management and it gives very good impression!!
The food was very tasty and everyone could find something special! All-inclusive was very good idea and we enjoyed having ice-cream etc between activities!
The out-doors kids zone was terrific!! In-doors-as well very good! Very good activity program for kids depending from age! The whole day busy! The only issue- for small kids german being mother tongue would be necessary. Elder kids might communicate anyway!
There was also very good activity program for parents but we have chosen being the most time with kids.
Very special zone is pool and sauna zone where only adults could enter. There are 13 different saunas and pool with whirlpools. If you can leave your kids for 1-2 hours ( and they could actually be good entertained,) you can really relax and forget about the lovely noise produced by kids somewhere upstairs.
You could hardly find the cleaning personal (scurrying everywhere like in many beach hotels) but the hotel was magically clean!
Another interesting issue is daily hotel's newspaper which you get on your table together with menu for dinner. Info on wether, activity etc and just .. a day's aphorism!
So, if I decided to review this hotels together with my children it would be much longer with many nice remembrances!

I just came home from a wonderful spa weekend at Dilly´s wellness hotel. Wellness is spa and a typical name here in Austria. It is a big, wonderful hotel for the whole family with a great spa area. The price includes breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea or coffee with cake and dinner. It has a big space for children and an own children´s club. Inside there are two big pools, one children´s pool and one heated for inside and outside. Outside there is a little lake and another pool. If you want to relax, Dilly´s is the place to do!
