Nice central location, stayed in Room 4, Capt. Nicolas Baudin, great authentic cottage with information provided in the room detailing the life of the building which was great to read. Nice outdoor bbq area which you can use. Close to other towns if you run short of supplies, but best to bring with you what you need, fridge and basic kitchen facilities provided in room 4. Second Valley Beach and caravan kiosk about 1.5kms away. Overall good value, reasonable quiet for being right next to the main road, but could go for some darker curtains as very bright in the morning. I would recommend and return again to these cottages.
The cottages are from the mid 1800's and were restored in the '80's. They have charm and character.
Unfortunately they are due for another re-furb if they are going to serve as quality accommodation into the future. Our unit did not have hot water to the sink, a light cover missing, blown light bulb etc which would be annoying to some visitors. The cottage was clean and tidy bet we felt the need to wash all crockery etc before using it. The property needed some daily maintenance with leaves blown up to the doors etc as well as some longer term care. The barbeque area is nice but has bedrooms of 3 units opening onto it as well as the imposing accommodation units on the adjoining site.
We had all the cottages to ourselves and there were only a few people in the adjoining units which made our stay quiet and enjoyable. It would be different if the other cottages and adjoining units were occupied.
Second valley is a lovely place and the cottages are well located, however it would be difficult to recommend them due to the expectations of visitors and the impact of other occupants.
