“Feeling happy....”
Reviewed 21 July 2013

A few years ago, I landed at Clear Lake Inn to discover a home away from home. Barb and Bill are warm, friendly and professional. They are generous with their time to show their rooms and share information on local amenities.

The rooms are consistently clean and the common areas are also clean and fresh. I feel safe and secure at Clear Lake Inn. The windows are new, the beds comfortable and the pillows have height!

Last winter, an unexpected severe snow storm blew in... the storm prevented me from leaving to go to the contract. Barb and Bill went beyond the call of duty and ensured that I had some breakfast and lunch. Today, Clear Lake Inn is my first choice for accommodations in the Espanola area.

Put yourself, family and friends in the good care of Clear Lake Inn.

Warmly,
Doreen

Taking a look at this place from the outside might not do much, taking a look from the inside might not be much better either, but meet the owners and feel the good vibes of this place and you will get it. I was tired and cranky when I got here, and the owners were so great and helpful that it cheered my right up. They even offered to pick up my pizza if delivery was unavailable. This place might be old, but it isn't run down by any means, my room was spotless and I could tell how much attention to detail was payed by whoever cleaned it. Can't wait to wake up tomorrow and see the area, Posted this from their free wifi.

This is a very normal hotel for 1960. Concrete block walls in the hallway, furniture from the 1960's. New beds and TV. Cable and Wifi (great signal!). It is very clean and competent.

It is not exactly a Holiday Inn Express or a Hampton........ If there had been one here, I would not be reviewing THIS motel. If you need to stay in Espanola, this seems to be better than most.

Don't look for breakfast here or even a coffee maker in the room. Oh well, Tim Horton is just down the street.

Rather quaint, liked that the beds had home-like type flowered sheets instead of institutional ones, and that the towels were also the kind you'd have at home. We had 2 rooms for the night - one had a fridge and microwave, the other had a fridge and stove. Conveniently located stop along the way if planning to catch the Chi-Cheemaun ferry at South Baymouth the next morning We only stayed one night during a road trip but it would make a great base from which to explore the area for a few days. Very reasonably priced - we had 2 rooms for about $135. Air conditioner was kind of old and wheezy, but worked fine.

We stayed here overnight and were very happy with our experience. The room was clean & bright. There was a fridge and microwave in the room that both worked (woohoo!). The beds were pillowtop so comfortable for sleeping. The tv was flat screen & there was free wireless. Even had vending machines for that pop we forgot to pack. We had a great visit.
There is a homeless cat that adopted the place & we were happy to be greeted by it (although it didn't get too close to us - it was just at the door)
The place is dated in terms of decor but it was a nice place. I would stay here again.
(remember Espanola has a paper mill - we had no issues with smell. A little smell in the hallway but in our room, no problems.)

Room Tip: I prefered the back side of the hotel so I didn't have to look at the parking lot - it is a one...

Stopped here on way to Manitoulin Island Ferry. Great family run motel, it is an older dated motel but rooms very well cleaned, maintained and in order. Nature just steps outside, with forest & walking trails, the Beach only steps away. The owners of the motel are very friendly and when wanting to take a quiet stroll, they directed me to a nice quiet walking trail along the old railroad tracks and down along side a creek. On the property they have picnic tables, covered smoking sheds (no smoking indoors) and covered leisurely swings; They also had a paddle boat & kayak's available for rent if you wish to explore Clear Lake. Steps away there is also a boardwalk and paved walking trail along side the lake down into town.

I have stayed here once before and will be again on my travels this way, great service, clean rooms, quiet area, great value. They owners also have a collection of photographs of celebrities, artists, singers they have met over the years and that have stayed at their motel, always interesting to see! Hope this helps fellow travelers~!

Room Tip: Rooms facing the front face the parking lot, rooms facing the back look out at the forest. Rooms cl...

Clear Lake is a typical motel. It was a good choice for a place to stay as I was traveling from Toronto to near Wawa and felt could not drive the whole way straight. The room was large albeit stuffy, but bed was comfortable, no bugs, it had a fridge, table and a very clean bathroom. The motel was quiet. My only issue was there was no internet. I beleive it was down. All in all a good place to sleep for $60.00 a night.
