“The Best The Island Has To Offer”
Reviewed 24 September 2013

I have always loved visiting Manitoulin Island but the choice of accommodations is limited. More recently a few good bed and breakfasts have appeared and there are some nice campgrounds but a nice hotel was nowhere to be found. This really was a pleasant stay on all fronts. The staff were genuinely friendly and helpful, the rooms were quiet, spacious and beautiful. The view of the North Channel is fabulous. The food at the restaurant was delicious as well. The grilled whitefish was so flavourful and fresh. True there is no included breakfast like there is at some of the chain hotels but I am more than willing to pay a little extra in this case. I would highly recommend a stay here.

Room Tip: Choose a room that overlooks the water out the back of the hotel and if the weather is nice, eat out...

This is a beautiful hotel and a great addition to Manitoulin island.
The service was excellent! They even gave us dew rags for our motorcycles in the morning!! We have never had a hotel go above and beyond without us mentioning something.
The lobby was a great place to sit and relax by the fire. View is amazing, with the mountains and lake near by.
The pasta in the restaurant was amazing, but the price was a little steep. Great treat for a vacation though!
Beds were comfy and new :)
Rooms are beautiful, they look exactly like the pictures people have posted.
I recommend going here to everyone! Best place on Manitoulin island.

Coming across the Bruce Peninsula and Manitoulin Island, we heard repeatedly that a new hotel was opened in Little Current, so we decided to check it out. This place was NOT ready to open. No sign out front at all. The pool was not ready to use. The landscaping was non-existant. We were told the elevators JUST now were working. We had to change rooms because the heater in ours made a horrendous noise. The food in the restaurant was horrible and over-priced. The garlic potato soup tasted just like it was from a can. The floor in the restaurant was cement, the tables looked cheap. The whole establishment did not look ready for business. Yes, there was a nice lobby. Yes, we saw a beautiful sunset. We did a motorcycle trip from Buffalo, NY, up the Bruce Peninsula, to the island, through Ontario, down the Mackinaw Bridge and through Michigan...this was the worst experience on the whole trip and the one that was the most expensive. Not worth it to us at all!

We enjoyed our stay in July in then 2-months old hotel. Fresh paint, everything brand new. Beautifully designed lobby with a huge fireplace with glass walls as a centre piece and a leather coach covered with a bear skin! Few visitors yet so we could still enjoy it all to ourselves. 2 Macs with 30" monitors for customers' use right there in the lobby.
Wi-fi and cell worked just fine.

The only complaints were mostly related to still developing infrastructure, i.e. non-working heater in the swimming pool, so none could use it, insufficient supply of Van Houte bags for coffee-making machine in each room. The day we arrived they ran out of regular coffee and had decaf only. We stayed 4 nights in the hotel and only got regular coffee bags on the day before departure. Right across from it there is a little cafe/ice cream store with a wide selection of ice cream, freshly brewed coffee and tea, also pizza and burgers for a quick snack.
The hotel is located next to the island visitor centre and the Bridge connecting the island with the land and a minutes' walk to the boardwalk.
We would definitely stay there again.

I visit Manitoulin Island about every other week for business and this is by far the best place to stay that I have found. The rooms are very clean and nice. The bathrooms are spacious. The Keurig coffee makers in the room are great, much better than the small traditional drip coffee makers found in a lot of other hotels. There is an ice cream stand right next door that serves food as well. There is a nice path / walk that leads along the waterfront to the downtown area. The hotel restaurant is now open, I have not personally tried it yet but I have heard good things from others who have.

We stayed here for two days at the end of August. This is a new hotel. Very comfortable. The staff were most helpful and pleasant. When we asked for additional coffee in the room it was provided quickly and without question. One of the staff was very helpful in setting up our ipad for us. Just one improvement...we were surprised there was no ironing board/iron in the room.

We stayed for three nights in August, beautiful new facility with a welcoming lobby, access to computers/wifi and great views of the river. However, the service is not up to par, and there is lots of room for improvement. Pool was closed, elevators were not working (the elevator engineer strike was blamed), there are no exercise facilities, and breakfast service was not included in the $159/night price. Also be warned that all nights stays are paid up front at check-in, not at checkout. On the first night we arrived, we were informed that the restaurant would be open late (until 10 p.m.) but they closed at 8:30 p.m. and we were sent off looking for a spot to eat (there's not much to choose from on a weeknight in Little Current). When we complained we were offered a complimentary breakfast to make up for this. The rooms were very clean and sparkling new, so no complaints with quality there, but you definately pay extra for the convenience and location. Overall, we made the best of our stay, but it could have been so much better....
