We are repeat visitors to this delightful b&b, and this time brought friends, who as it turns out were familiar with the owners in another setting. Serendipity. We love the setting, the history of the place, and the owners' friendship and concern for everything. We saw a wonderful Gilbert and Sullivan production at Burns Wharf, and enjoyed the exceptional breadfasts of our hosts and the conversation and companionship of both them and their other guests. It happened to be cherry-picking time. Fortuitous and delicious.

Room Tip: The room fronting on Manitowaning Bay with its own deck is ideal.

We just returned from a three day stay at Willow Shores. This is an excellent B & B. The hosts, Gord and Charlene, are the most hospitable couple you are likely to find. Their entire home is opened up to you and you are treated like a family guest. Charlene makes the most delicious and wholesome breakfasts you could ever ask for. Everything is homemade, including the jams and jellies. A typical breakfast starts with muffins or scones followed by omelettes, eggs benedict, or pancakes, all accompanied by plenty of fruit.
We stayed in the Music Room, their premium room with a king sized bed, it's own deck and a spectacular view of the lake. We would highly recommend this home for your stay on Manitoulin Island.

My husband and I stayed 2 nights in their king bedroom (called the music room). Its a very large room with ensuite bath and was super comfortable. I enjoyed sitting on the small deck off the bedroom one afternoon reading and had the company of several hummingbirds buzzing me or sitting right next to me. Way cool. Charlene provides an excellent breakfast in the morning (my favorite was the waffles with homemade berries for a topping...yum!). They will cater to different dietary needs and also provide extra muffins or scones to take as a snack during the day. That was really great! A very welcoming couple and enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: We did not see the other rooms but loved the music room with the king bed.

Willow Shores B&B is a lovely, clean and comfortable B&B with lots of amenities. We were in the area for a wedding and did not have time to enjoy their paddle boat or kayaks but would love to return for an extended stay to explore their waterfront. Gord and Charlene made us feel welcome the moment we arrived. Our room was lovely with a walk-out to a small deck overlooking the water , a lovely ensuite bathroom and a comfy king-size bed. I would not hesitate in recommending their B&B to other travelers. Thank you for a great stay and a much needed break away from my own B&B business.

Room Tip: loved the music room. The walk-out to a seating area and the views of the water.

This is by far the best B&B we have stayed in. This is really a gem! Charlene and Gord (the hosts) , make you immediately feel home and do their best to make your stay unforgettable. All guest rooms are so lovely decorated and very clean. The bed is huge and really comfortable, and the lake and garden view from the terrace is awesome. We also enjoyed Charlene's delicious homecooked breakfast (and I got the recipe) (and the Barbeque with Gord. they were so helpful and could advise us on what to see and where to go on Manitoulin Island. Charlene and Gord know a lot about the island's history and it was interesting to listen to all the stories - and enjoy their company - it was like spending time with good friends. There's plenty to do and see in the area, or you can use the B&Bs own kayaks, canoe or paddle boat. We will definately go back to Charlene and Gord - sit on the terrace enjoy their company and and enjoy the view.

My husband and I visited Manitoulin Island for the first time for two days in July. We stayed at the Willow Shores B&B after reading the many Trip Advisor recommendations. We too left feeling that we had been blessed to stay in such a 'special' warm and welcoming home.

What you may ask makes this B&B so special? First and foremost, it is the generous inclusivity of the owners Gord and Charlene who welcome everyone into their home like family. Not only did the morning breakfast table provide a scrumptious, bountiful breakfast (fresh fruit salad, blueberry pancakes, sausage and peameal bacon with homemade muffins, juice and coffee/tea) but also wonderful conversations with families from Germany and couples from Toronto and St. Catharines. The house itself is beautifully located on the shore of one of the numerous manitoulin island bays'. You can swim off the dock or make use of the paddle boats and kayaks at the foot of the dock. Beautifully quiet. No motor boat noise! One evening, my husband and I sat at the bottom of the garden/lakeside and had fresh caught whitefish and chips (from takeout in Town) with a bottle of wine. Yes, life is very good! We stayed in the Naval Room ... the bed was lovely and comfortable; beautifully decorated; clean bathroom with all needed toiletries provided.

We loved Manitoulin Island and will definitely return and no doubt about it ... we will be returning to Willow Shores.

We booked a last minute trip to Manitoulin Island, and decided to stay 3 nights in Manitowaning. How lucky we were to get accommodation at Willow Shores B&B. Charlene and Gord make you feel totally at home as soon as you arrive, complete with fresh coffee and muffins if you want them. The first night we stayed in the Ship Room, a spacious bedroom with a compact ensuite. The room is tastefully decorated in a restive shade of blue. The ensuite is spotless, with everything provided, even some extra items in case you have forgotten something. At first we were worried the mattress might be too soft, but it was so comfortable - the best sleeps we had on our holiday. It's lovely that there is a refrigerator in each room. The second and third nights we stayed in the Chief's Room, a slightly smaller room than the Ship's Room, but equally comfortable and well appointed. The bathroom is just down the hall, and is private to those who use the Chief's Room. Again, it was spotless, with lots of towels and other extras if necessary. There was lots of hot water for our showers.
Charlene and Gord were at full capacity for the 3 nights we were there, but they had time for everyone, and at Willow Shores, you never feel rushed. They have great ideas of things to do and see whilst on the island. Two maps in the dining area: a map of Manitoulin and a map of the world, help in planning day trips from their house, as well as sharing with the other guests where each are from. We were fortunate to make new acquaintance with two families from Germany, a family from Netherlands, and couples from St. Catharine's, Brampton and Burlington. It was a great mix of people, young and old!
Charlene's breakfasts are something to behold. They will last you until dinner, for sure. Everything is freshly baked or cooked, carefully prepared and presented on the plates. Fresh fruit slices and juice are always on offer. There are always fresh muffins in the morning to enjoy with a fresh coffee on the deck looking out over Manitowaning Bay. Breakfast is when you would like it, but most of us tended to gravitate to the breakfast table around the same time. Our last breakfast was a real family affair, with 17 of us around the table and Char and Gord hovering around making sure everyone had everything we needed. There was lots of laughter and yet it was also intimate at the same time.
Their property is calm and peaceful, with canoes and kayaks to use. They have a fire pit down by the water, and were in the midst of a bonfire when we came in one evening after our busy day. We didn't join in the fun, but it sure sounded as though everyone was having a great time. Charlene and Gord have also built a lovely memory garden, a quiet space for contemplation which looks out over Manitowaning Bay. We enjoyed the sweeping willows down by the shore, particularly sitting in the hammock chairs - very relaxing.
There are two main sitting areas: one with a view of the bay, the other with games and a TV for guests to use. Again, guests are invited to use any part of the house and encouraged to feel at home. We were also invited to use their BBQ if we wanted to cook our own meal. We didn't, but other folks did cook some of their own meals in the kitchen.
Charlene and Gord take great pride in their home, it is neat as a pin and spotlessly clean. The sheets are crisp and towels are soft. Some folks with scent sensitivities might not appreciate the freshener used in the linens, but I am sure if you mentioned this, Charlene would accommodate you with unscented sheets and towels. She is that kind of a person, who will bend over backwards to make you feel comfortable.
They are located in a central location along the Hwy 6 corridor, but also very handy to Wikwemikong Unceded Territory for hikes and cultural events. There is a Freshmart grocery store, several good restaurants, petrol station and a great museum - Assiginack Museum. Also, check out the Dejab cultural centre for art and theatre events. The SS Norisle is also docked in the harbour. About a 20 minute drive is the Noble Alpaca Farm - great spot for kids of all ages - and about 30 minutes away is the famous Cup and Saucer hiking trail, more suitable to older kids and adults in shape. Just further from that is M'Chigeeng, one of 8 first nations communities in the Great Spirit Circle, offering excellent cultural activities great for the whole family. We spent some time on a Medicine Walk. Again, it was an easy drive from Willow Shores.
Charlene and Gord rank among the best host and hostess we have encountered in all of our B&B visits, and we have been B&Bing for 25 years, around the world!
Thank you for your great hospitality!
