This is a very casual atmosphere and they welcome large or small groups. Don't miss ordering a platter of perch along with their famous celery bread and great coleslaw. The mandarin salad is good too.
They offer some fun delicious drinks from the bar that are also very tasty.

A trip to Port Dover would not be "complete" unless a visit to the Terrace Room for a perch dinner is included. The friendly staff is most accommodating, Rose remembers our exact order for it seems like 30 years The perch is always fresh, the celery bread yummy and there is always a selection of draft beer as well as mixed drinks.

Don't visit Dover without visiting the Terrace Room.

I love coming to this place, you always know what to expect. Sure it hasn't changed in, well, ever... but that's part of the appeal. If you want a modern restaruant that updates its look every 5 years, then go to McDonalds. It's neat to think that the table you're sitting at may have been the same one your grandparents sat at 30 or 40 years ago. The food is always great and the grass is always kept perfect out front. I love how they keep things the same year after year.

(For some reason this review from March 29 was posted to the ERIE BEACH HOTEL COVE ROOM RESTAURANT instead of at this site. These are two totally different restaurants at the same location.)
As has been pointed out THE TERRACE ROOM is more of a casual venue (with a bar) than the more formal, white table-clothed Cove Room.
And in the thirty years we have been coming to Port Dover, the Terrace Room remains the best place for Lake Erie perch on the lake.
Various configurations from polished, round, benched tables seating 10 to 12, to tables for couples and quads accommodates a busy summer crowd and a regular flow during the off-seasons.
Let's start with the refreshments. The lovely servers are fast and efficient and I highly recommend a new local brewery called RAMBLIN' ROAD. This brewery farm from La Salette, Ontario (ya....I had never heard of it either....just north of Delhi) has a soft and flavourful country Pilsner-style brew which actually tasted like BEER!!! This will be a killer sales item with the summer sailing crowd!
Now the food. Cucumber salad is ok....thick sliced cukes mixed with a light ranch-style dressing I could pass on. I prefer the thin sliced sugar and vinegar Hungarian style.
We lucked in to the PICKEREL CHEEKS, which they only have have about eight times a year. FABULOUS!!!! Almost like a scallop consistency and flavour. The clam strips were a bit on the small side and a bit over-fried for my liking.
But the star of the show, as always, is the Lake Erie Perch. These puppies were soft and flaky and pan-fried to perfection in a slight breaded covering which just hinted at an accompanying flavour. Absolutely fabulous.
Crispy french fries and their famous celery bread just slicked in the frypan makes the drive always worthwhile. Dover delicious!!!!!

Two weeks ago to the day I was in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia for supposedly one of the best fish and chips in Canada......it was NOT!. THIS is....and certainly has been for the thirty years we've been coming here!!!!
The more formal COVE ROOM downstairs at the Erie Beach Hotel is topped upstairs by its more casual cousin in the Terrace Room and is filled with various table configurations from polished round, benched tables which can seat 10 to 12, depending how friendly you are, to tables for couples and quads.
