Lovely drive down. Lesley (owner) was going on holiday but was in touch with me and gave me Daphne number to contact. Phoned her within an hour of our arrival and she was waiting for us and gave us a run round of cottage etc.Daphne also contacted me during our stay to check all ok.
Dog walks around area were plentiful.Hardwick Park lovely to walk to. Visited Hartlepool Saltburn on sea .Osmotherly Northallerton to name a few places.
The Dun Cow inn great place to eat.
Number 4 tearoom lovely homemade sandwiches and cakes.

I hope you had a fab time and I'm so please Daphne looked after you!

Crimdon Dene is also great for dog walks and of course Hardwick is just over a field and so easy to get too. Hopefully you will come back and visit us again. Lesley

“Nice location, tired property”

We really enjoyed the area, but the property itself was very tired and needs work to be worth the price

Thank you for your comments; we take pride in listening to our guests feedback and respond where appropriate. Further to our telephone conversation, we have checked all the doors close, we have removed the paint tins from the store cupboard and there is now a new handle on the bathroom drawer. We look forward to seeing you again soon.

“Perfect cosy cottage in beautiful village!”
Reviewed 9 May 2017 for a stay in May 2017

Wonderful cottage with everything you could want, with a great amount of thought gone into what might be needed. Lovely comfy beds, and spotless throughout. There is a magnificent fire to cosy up in front of, although, the cottage is very warm and plenty of hot water. There is a hot tub outside that is heated by wood....something we will use next time. The village is great with plenty of little shops and tea shops, a wonderful market on Sunday, a magnificent church and a park called Hardwick Hall two fields away with lakes, gardens buildings and a visitor centre with tea room. It is ideally situated for the coast, the Yorkshire Dales and moors. Durham is also a short distance away. Thank you so much Lesley. We will be back very soon!!

“Warm Welcome”
Reviewed 8 September 2016 for a stay in August 2016

The 2 of us stayed along with our 15 week guide dog puppy.
The cottage is nicely located in the attractive village of Sedgefield. Sedgefield is a very nice village with plenty of shops, cafes and pubs although some of the pubs seem to keep strange hours.
We were given a very warm welcome by our host who could not have done more for us.
The cottage was very clean, well equipped and comfortable.
I would recommend it to those after a quiet break in the countryside.

Thank you for your review of the cottage and Sedgefield. Sedgefield is a lovely village with a great selection of great teashops. For future guests reading this, if you wish to visit the pubs, I would recommend the Dun Cow. As the reviewer correctly says, some of the pubs only open on a weekend which makes it quite confusing if you are not local. The Dun Cow is a well established pub in the village with great food and is very popular with locals and visitors alike.

Thank you for the kind review and good luck with your gorgeous puppy. I hope she is enjoying lots of walks in the fields now!

“Comfortable, in a great location.”
Reviewed 31 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

A lovely cottage, spacious for 2 adults and 2 teenagers staying for over a week. A great location in a quiet village with shops and restaurants nearby, and lots of places to drive to for days out.
The cottage had a nice, spacious living room. I did feel that the carpet could have done with a bit of an extra clean (dogs are allowed in the cottage). The kitchen had all the necessities, although we were disappointed that there was no extra touches such as perhaps a welcome pack, some cleaning products, soap and washing up liquid. Bathroom was clean and modern with a nice shower, although steps leading up to the bath were a little awkward and the temperature control on the shower was very stiff. Used the washing machine, which was fine, but again it would have been nice to have been provided with just 1 or 2 tablets.
Bedrooms were great with adequate storage. Great having a TV in the master bedroom. The double bed was very comfortable (the large room could easily have had a slightly larger than double bed). The two single beds were less comfortable, with rather cheap mattresses. Also, the curtains in the second bedroom were unlined and therefore the room was very bright in the mornings.
We didn't use the hot tub, as it didn't appeal (it looked like it could be a bit tricky to get in and out of!) and personally we would have preferred to have had a more spacious patio area to perhaps sit outside in the sunshine.
All in all, a great location, and we enjoyed our days out.

I'm pleased you found the cottage so comfortable. it is handy for Durham as it is so close to the A1M and the A19 which makes it so central for lots of tourism attractions in the North east. Hopefully, you will still be coming back to the NE now that you have graduated!
